I personally think the movie is an exploding circus on wheels. Pretty cool the Miller was able to pull it off but people praising any Mad Max after the first one as the best kills my soul.

Was okay, some pretty crappy dialogue but some great visuals. I don't see this feminist power thing, if it weren't for Max they'd have died in a ditch. Small things like Max letting Furiosa shoot is like the only thing that supports a female empowerment angle. Max is still the hero, Max still saves them all, Max is still the one with all the power. As it should be.

For a Mad Max film, the first was pretty mediocre too. If you missed the line of dialogue about it being post apocalyptic, you'd have never known it was supposed to be. The movie itself was a real slow burner, though once it gets where it's going it becomes pretty fantastic and has probably the most satisfying end of any of the Mad Max movies.
But with the titles I put ahead of it, there really aren't long dry spells and pacing issues the way the first one had. And, obviously, they have much larger budgets and were able to communicate the dystopia a lot better.
