>oh no, our queen's been killed, it's over guize
>it's not like we have a fully functional ship just seconds away from tearing Earth apart and most of our forces still intact
>oh no, an alien sphere that has a database of alien tech which will take years for humans to understand and build, better run

somehow ...uh life will find a way
>send a massive moon sized ship to the earth
>ship is so large is has it's own gravitational pull
>rips apart the moon and saturns rings
>slams into the earth
>rips apart earths atmosphere upon entering
>covers an area roughly the same size as north america or slightly larger
>ship leaves earth a few days later and there is absolutely no damage to done to the earth or to the enviorement

Fritz Leiber wrote a novel years ago called The Wanderer about an alien space ship the size of the moon entering Earth orbit and it caused massive tidal waves, earthquakes, etc but all that abated once it was gone

In reality anything that large even brushing up against our atmosphere would completely obliterate it, vaporizing everything aboveground and liquefying much of the surface.
>>71175518
no fucking shit, sherlock
literally everyone that even considers seeing that shitfest in theaters is retarded, even nostalgiafags. the trailers look terrible and the actors are not even worth your time. the story being shit is a given

Hi, i'm a physicist.
It entirely depends on the speed at which it enters the atmosphere.
Slow enough, and no, it won't destroy the atmosphere. In fact, it'll only cause significant damage to earths ecology upon actually contacting the crust.
It wasn't accurate at all in the movie, though. Something that large and fast would kill a lot more people.
