because hollywood is stupid.

What is the problem here?

What is trigger discipline and why does everyone bring it up when someone is posing in images with a gun.
>>
>>71172022
>hand at the end of the barrel
>thumb in the trigger guard
You're pretty much asking to shoot yourself in the hand.
>>
>>71172032
something minor to complain about to feel smarter
>>
>>71172032
Only put your finger over the trigger when you are about to shoot something.

Only aim at things you want to shoot at
>>
>>71171987
What is he attempting to do there?
Other than blow his little finger off?
>>
>>71171898
isn't that what Pulp Fiction was making fun of?

also Film is a visual medium, 100% realism is not as important as you think when you just want to entertain.

The Bourne movies are super realistic and that doesn't stop 2 and 3 from being hot garbage.
>>
>>71172032
You have to keep your finger off the trigger unless you are about to fire. Otherwise you could fire accidentally.

I don't know why American media is so bad about it when so many people own guns or have served in the military.
>>
>>71172099
believe it or not, a brass check
>>
>>71171898
maybe you should be watching operatorkino not just any old kino
>>
>>71171987
that's a legit way to perform a brass check, you autist.
Micheal Mann attended Gunsite, which was run by Jeff fucking Cooper, the man who made the TD meme popular.
>>
>>71172135
most people don't care.
>>
>>71172119
Nobody is claiming that minor details is going to magically make a shit movie SHEEP.

But isn't it quite hard to squeeze the trigger of guns? The only experience I have had was with a shotgun while clay bird shooting, took me a while to get use to it. Definitely not something you can pull back accidentally.
>>
>>71172119
Yeah, I just posted that picture because it's the only time in film I've seen bad TD have consequences. And while I know realism=/=quality, it seems lazy if guns are going to be such a big part of a movie and yet they don't portray them accurately.
>>
>>71172183
It's not like it makes a practical difference in movies (unlike real life where it's the difference between life and death), but it's strange that people insist on doing it that way again and again when it's a grossly incorrect way of handling a gun.
>>
>>71172244
It's all adjustable.
>>
>>71172135

animes have this careful attention to detail, ie. i like when they draw bass guitars exactly how a specific model is. i have yet to see a western cartoon that does this instead of drawing some stupid generic and ambiguous "instrument with strings".
>>
>>71172258
I understand and agree.
>>
>>71172244
You could trip, or get startled, or get shot and have a muscle spasm (or whatever it's called).
>>
Hollywood has actually gotten really good at TD now.
Just check the ads for Central Intelligence, Dwayne Johnson has perfect TD.
>>
>>71172022
google "4 rules of firearm safety"

and if you don't know them you should, even if you don't own and don't intend on owning a gun.
>>
>>71172266
It's rare to see a character hold a gun with the finger on the trigger, even if it's airsoft or water gun.

Anime doesn't get everything right but on average it's probably more realistic than Hollywood.
>>
>>71172068
It's one of the main cornerstones of firearm safety. It's akin to if they showed welders welding without a mask.
>>
>>71172244
Most triggers have a pull weight of around 3 lbs of force.
>>
>>71172353
>Anime doesn't get everything right but on average it's probably more realistic

anime is wild as fuck, nothing realistic about that. but they are detailed. they pay attention and it shows.

i recall stan winston had this philosophy of designing his monsters and creatures with way more detail than the camera can capture, because the sum of it would give a certain authenticity a sloppy and lazy design never achieves.
>>
>>71172374
If they took that mask off, would they die?
>>
>>71172461
Paying attention to detail is part of realism.
>>
>>71171898
What did they do with the body?
>>
>>71171898
John Travolta's character is a barely functioning heroin junkie i wouldn't expect him to act professional. pic related actually points out how stupid acting like that with a gun is.
>>
>>71172648
That's why I chose that picture.
>>
>>71172580

paying attention is making stuff plausible and believable. nothing to do with realism.
>>
>>71172648
>John Travolta's character is a barely functioning heroin junkie

he saved mia's life. he functioned perfectly fine, he was just lousy because that was his personality.
>>
>>71172688
It can mean either of those things.
>>
>>71172723
You don't know what functioning means.

Japs are just autists when it comes to mechanical shit.
>>
>gun hits the floor
>gun goes off

Why does the ground have such shitty trigger discipline?
>>
>>71172244
It's quite easy to do if you're running or moving across rough/awkward ground and trip or slip.
>>
>>71172803
>>gun hits the floor
>>gun goes off
literally only happens to museum pieces like Single Action Army's.
>>
It's okay to complain about TD when the user is someone who should know about it, like a trained professional or a legit gun owner. However, if the user is some dumb gang member or some other shit, it doesn't matter.

It was Phil Lamars idea at the last second. I don't think it was intentional to make fun of poor trigger discipline.

we don't see his whole life but he manages to do his job, seems pretty functioning
