he's literally never made a bad film so all of them are worth watching, but if you want his career in a nutshell, watch these, in this order:

Thief
Manhunter
Heat
Collateral
Miami Vice

not to say these are his 5 best, by any means - i actually think Heat and Collateral are two of his weaker films - but they'll certainly give you a good snapshot of him as a director.

I unironically enjoy Blackhat.
Definitely not his best but if you're a fan of everything else he's done, it's worth watching.

Blackhat is great. would love to see the director's cut that screened at the Brooklyn Academy of Music earlier this year. probably never going to get a home release, though, at least not until someone like Arrow or Criterion gets their hands on the rights. Universal just has no fiscal incentive to release it.
