He's far less keen on Melisandre in the books, doesn't really buy into her shit but goes along with because he knows his wife and some of his followers believe and she has proved her magic is real or at least accomplishes something. In the show he comes off as being totally manipulated by her.
Also just some other stuff, like him burning followers of the 7 because they wouldn't convert or take down their idols.
