I've said it before and I'll say it again. Disney's Hercules is the greatest film ever made. From the very eve of filmmaking, artists have been trying to capture the raw emotion at the core of humanity, but have all failed miserably. That is, until Disney's Hercules bursted into theatres with its jam-packed message on what it means to be human. Citizen Kane? More like Citizen Lame. Silence of the Lambs? More like Silence of the Lame. The Thing? More like The Lame. No film that has it ever will be created can match up to this ride of a lifetime.

It's amazing that John Carpenter can make a 10/10 cult classic (Big Trouble), but also make this, a genuine genre defining masterpiece.

I know it gets memed a lot because it's new, but this film is a legit 10/10 action flick. The story is barebones, yet manages to make me root for the protagonist.

Plus, Reeves is an actual competitive shooter and it shows.

this was such a lame movie outside of the well-done gunfights. Whole thing felt like an adolescent power-fantasy. Michael Mann does better grounded action sequences and pretty much any asian revenge movie shits on everything else John Wick tried to accomplish.

Am I the only person who doesn't like the action in this movie?

It feels too much like, it's hard to describe, to much like a themepark ride, I guess? Everything falls perfectly into place just so, and the stakes never really feel high.

I dunno, I loved it as a kid, but on rewatches it really doesn't click with me. The action in T1 has much more weight, which makes me enjoy it more.

4 out of 10?! 4 out of fucking 10?!?! Did you and I not see the same goddamn film? Disney's Hercules is a culmination of the 21st century's imaginational peak. It has everything from stunning visuals to a musical number that actually makes sense in a Disney movie. No scale could even hope to judge the pure acid that is the visual and cinemagraphic appeal of Disney's Hercules.
It's at least a 9.7/10.

I agree. It's really cool but not a great movie. In the Mouth of Madness is Carpenter's true pleb-filter. That, They Live, Prince of Darkness, Dark Star and Assault on Precinct 13 are all better movies if you ask me. Mouth of Madness fucks with the fundamentals of storytelling, which I think is the best way to handle Lovecraft's weird storytelling. Prince of Darkness has a basic and primal frightening premise like The Thing but rather than relying on paranoia and confusion to freak you out it uses dread and inevitability, which I think are the best things horror can pull off. They Live is a masterpiece of political commentary, Precinct 13 is just a great siege movie and Dark Star is probably my favourite take on space travel in a movie.

>>71166093
The Thing is just cool not incredible. Predator I think is legitimately not that good. Predator 2 gives you more of the predator, more violent kills, tighter action and much stronger non-predator scenes.

I hear you. To me it feels more sterile, if that makes sense, while in the original it was more shoddy/gritty and in your face. Different strokes I guess, I loved both.

Objectively one of Oshii's weaker cyberpunk crime kinos.

This movie did for me what no other action movie could.

I don't like Die Hard. I don't like Lethal Weapon.

But for some reason this movie was able to convince me that Keanu Reeves was the biggest badass on the face of the planet, something I thought I would never be able to say after Matrix Revolutions.

While subsequent movies have merely been enjoyable, the very first viewing in theaters was absolutely a 10/10

>The television screen is the retina of the mind's eye. Therefore, the television screen is part of the physical structure of the brain. Therefore, whatever appears on the television screen emerges as raw experience for those who watch it. Therefore, television is reality, and reality is less than television.
Spoopy. Brian O'Blivion is such a cool character.

I did but Reeves looks like he was about to fall asleep for half the movie(like most of the stuff he's in). It hard to care about the plot of the movie when the characters look bored and uninterested.

the pride of John Wick fans is such a confusing meme. is it committed shitposting or are there really people who feel like they finished Gravity's Rainbow just because they think they REALLY got the plot of an action movie better than anybody else.

so what you're saying is this thread is really about conforming to /tv/'s meme chart? I'm literally not allowed to think John Wick is 10/10, and I'm objectively wrong if I think it was about more than a dead dog? Please tell me more about how I'm wrong, I'm sure you have plenty of memes and imaginary standards to back it up.

>This thought spooks me to no end. If I were to suddenly have all of my senses cut off would the world continue to exist?

Like what O'Blivion said "The battle for the mind of North America will be fought in the video arena: the Videodrome."

Please tell me how you're right you stupid faggot. You're allowed to think whatever stupid shit you want, but if you want anybody to stop thinking you're a stupid faggot maybe you should try convincing us that you actually thought about this rather than just latched onto the first non-capeshit action movie you saw in your life. Even if it is about more than a dog that doesn't necessarily make the movie good.

Have you seen any of these?
>Police Story
>Enter the Dragon
>The Killer
>A Fistful of Dollars
>Drunken Master
>The Magnificent Butcher
>The 36th Chamber of the Shaolin
>Heat
>Under Siege 2
>Danger Diabolik
>The Prodigal Son
>Police Story 3
>The Terminator
I can't imagine anybody who's any of these really considering John Wick anything beyond average.

Consider >>71164966. The Long Goodbye is another stylish as hell crime story with a really cool hero. He's completely different to The Driver and Frank though. He talks a lot and is pretty funny. It's still a really strong leading performance though.

Aside from that most of Michael Mann's movies are along those kinds of lines, Manhunter and Heat in particular.

It's legitimately fucking awesome. You should kill yourself if you let /tv/ meme you into thinking everything Steven Seagal ever touched is shit. Eric Bogosian plays an amazing villain, Seagal was willing to play characters that actually had to work for their wins back then and the whole thing is tense as hell and tightly planned and choreographed. It really does feel like a desperate situation.

Donnie Darko and Clockwork Orange are absolutely not 10/10. CO isn't even Kubricks best film. Blade Runner and Shawshank are close but still not 10/10
