I liked it even if the anti-gun scene made my eyes roll.

Watching "The Waking Life" is like being trapped in a dorm room with a bunch of Philosophy 101 students who are smoking weed for the first time.
OP here, i'm kinda in the nihilist mood right now so i wanted to watch some movies that could cure me
I hated it because I was in college and I kept thinking "omg this is such low-tier philosophy, even I'm get all this."
Then I learned to stop being a fag and enjoyed the film like most Linklater stuff.

what were you studying?

cultural anthro class that you need for credit, but the philosophy section of it. watched stuff like Ghost in the Shell.
Waking Life isn't that great, either way. It's okay, animation is pretty terrible, and mostly a comfy dreamlike feeling. Boyhood or Before Sunrise/Sunset are better for the same feeling.

If you've ever read or heard any basic philosophy stuff it's the most boring shit, aside from like 2 scenes or something like that. "Wow, Sartre? Who is that? Wow tell me more! That is like sooooo deep yo" etc
Animation and dreamlike atmosphere are good though
