Just watch American /tv/ shows. Most got a German synchro. Buff and Angel are fairly nice, because they are fairly long, comfy and you can compare them with their English parts.

I recommend watching series dubbed in german.
You'll know the original script, german dubs are usually high quality and it's perfect german without accent (unlike some german production that usually always include a local accent)
Scrubs for example is a really good series to learn the "Du" and "Sie" difference in conversation. Dr Cox uses it in all possible relationships, so you get a good grip on when to use "Du" and "Sie".
A really good german movie is "Der Schuh der Manitu". It has heavy bavarian accent, but it's really funny if your german is good enough.

The book actually manages to make you root for Hitler. Well at least if your german and share the same hatred for the "Bild Zeitung" as everyone else. (I think it would be like Hitler defeating Fox news and making them apologize and support Hitler)
The book does an incredible job at portraying Hitler as a regular human with insane ideas (that you learn to understand) and not some kind of soulless monster that you do not understand or how people would ever follow him.

I mean the thing is the book did a really good job at portraying how Hitler manages to go from a guy who people take as a joke to a TV star to a guy who gains more and more serious following as the one who says what the people "really think" to the most popular politician that everybody wants as leader with rabid fanboys defending him everywhere in a really realistic and believable that makes you wonder why nobody has done this before.
And here we are now. I wonder if Trump actually read the book, because his path is so scarily similar.

It's what a friend of mine started me with when I first moved to Germany and asked for recommendations. I barely understood a word at first, but it forced me to get comfortable with a lot of things you aren't going to find exposure to anywhere else. Even if I couldn't necessarily understand all the intricacies, I think it was really useful to get used to hearing them. I recommend a cartoon alongside it because that's where you learn more simple things. The combo worked really well for me.

But it's also true that the resentment against Jews in germany wasn't just from Hitler "mindcontrolling" everybody, they were hated similar to how muslims are hated nowadays. Only with no liberals going all "but my poor innocent jews!!"
Jews were the money holders and blamed for everything. Similar to how corporations nowadays are blamed for everything. The one with money is the one with power and obviously at fault for everything.
Add to that impossible remdiation imposts from Versailles Treaty, Germany losing a lot of it's original territory and the populace in general starving after losing a world war while jews being mostly unaffected by it it is not all that surprising to see how Hitler was democratically elected. All those "Hitler hated Jews because he was in love with one as a child and she rejected him" or "Jews kicked him out of art academy!" bullshit is just there to deny the fact that the german populatio really REALLY hated jews. The Kristallnacht happened without any order and Hitler actually had to send forces to STOP people from attacking jews on the open streets.
Hitler was just an extremist in a time where Germany is in ruins, Russia and communism was gaining more and morw power and getting closer and closer to the german border, allies in general just wanted ro fuck germany in the ass and it's easy to see why a guy who wants to conquer the world and create "Lebensraum" (room to live) for his people becomes so popular.
Hitler of course was not right, but his portrayal of rise to power and why he did the things he did is portrayed as why too one sided by history books.
And let's be honest. Look at Europe now. It takes way less for a country to right shift and go full nationalisic. Look at Austria, look at Brexit, look at France.
And these countries are rather wealthy and it's not even remotely comparable to Germany's horrible situation in the past.

Yes, but he also wanted to unify all German people and at the first chance he got he became an opportunist and betrayed his promise. It's not like there were concrete plans and Hitler did have six years of reign until the start of the war to kill Jews. Instead they made deals to resettle Jews and even took in Jewish refugees.
