It's dumb.I get Hogwarts is just a school for kids but they're teaching them extremely dangerous things. I'm surprised this didn't happen all the time considering they can easily use their magic for evil.
>>
>>71137685
Well kind of. I don't remember the specifics, but something Rowling released in Pottermore about Slughorn was interpreted by the fans as the Slug Club being a kind of grooming circle. It was released around the time people found out that 90% of the BBC and British government are molesting children.

yeah phones and shit
all a gun is is a metal tube with a piece of metal with gunpowder behind it
in the last movie they use gunpowder to blowup the bridge at hogwarts the most heavily warded place on earth so i'm pretty sure a gun would still work there

>>

Nah just communication devices and such, it seems to be things like radios and internet that run on interpreting electromagnetic radiation. I know it's really nerdy and I doubt Rowling had it in mind, but it seems like magic disrupts normal electromagnetism so that it becomes unreadable by other devices. This means that everything like cell phones, muggle radios, internet, etc... won't work, but should have most other things be fine. It might cancel out most electrical things in general, but guns would definitely be fine since they run on simple combustion. Besides, all of that is only in places like Hogwarts where there has been so much magic for so long that it's really strong everywhere, as far as we know there's no way to just send out a wizard EMP.
>>
>>71139635
Voldemort is a pureblood supremacist. He would never know about or use muggle technology.
So what if a bullet moves to fast? Just enchant your robe to stop all fast moving projectiles, I think they had something called the cushioning charm.
Also I would argue that a simple "protego" would protect from the nuclear blast. And no, it wouldn't take a powerful wizard, magic is magic. It protects from all non-magical harm.

HARRY DIDYAH KNOW YOU WERE IN one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises? Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though r-right
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

>>
>>71141473
I think magic can do almost literally anything, but somebody has to figure out how to do it, and the amount of skill required to do so differs from spell to spell.

It's probably possible, but it's WAY easier for a reasonably talented wizard to cast an illusion or brew polyjuice potion, which is why no-one has bothered to figure it out yet.

they should have apparated out of the country then took a portkey from there to the burrow
completely undetectable
>>
>>71141957
They can detect any spells cast *near* an underage wizard, and not who cast them, which is why Harry got in trouble for Dobby's spell in book 2. It was okay with Dumbledore because Dumbledore was there and the ministry was mostly okay at that point. By book 7, they were run by the Death Eaters.

The Ministry was effectively controlled by Voldemort during the second wizarding war through the puppet minister Pius.

Voldemort didn't have this advantage in the first war. When he did, they managed to reverse everything including putting the blame on Harry (wanted for questioning) for Dumbledore's death since they were seen together before Dumbledore's death.

This also means that any form of magical transportation regulated by the ministry could not be used, aurors are used as tools by Voldemort, laws are enacted to limit Harry and his allies' movement, magical protections are undone by the ministry's workforce, etc

There's obviously clever wizards who keep up with that shit better than Arthur does and who actually enchant things like that phonebox-entrance to the ministry and things like that. "Misuse of muggle objects" is just a waste of a department(because there's so few wizards who'd actually bother fucking with muggles by enchanting muggle shit and then leaving it lying around) that Arthur's been put in because he's absolute shit at his job and can't be trusted in another department. It's the wizard-version of when the boss' son, or some aristocrat who went to the right school, gets a superfluous task or department to run just to keep them on the payroll and have something to do.

The dude couldn't even handle a fucking snake.

You go with the flow of the potion and it does what's best for you at the current stage. Harry just felt like he should take a walk and shit like that, and if he'd ignored that to go and buy a lottery ticket instead the potion's effect would have been broken. This perfectly explains why everybody isn't chugging that shit until they start getting poisoned. Because you can't just take it and instantly accomplish what you've set out to do, because it works much more vaguely.

Well Harry WANTED to get that memory from Slughorn. He did.

The DA NEEDED to survive the onslaught of the Death Eaters at Hogwarts and they all somehow ducked and swerved away from every spell.

I think your desire still has a part to play in it. Why do you think it's banned in competitions/tournaments? It's not like it just makes you lucky about something else and NOT on the task you're set out to
>>
>>71143788
>Harry just felt like he should take a walk and shit like that, and if he'd ignored that to go and buy a lottery ticket instead the potion's effect would have been broken.
Harry took the potion to get the memory out of slughorn, and guess what? He did.
The potion made him do things that seemingly had no correlation to getting the memory, and he went along with them. The keyword is "seemingly".
There is nothing vague about the effect of the potion, you're just a retard.
