All Ner'zhul was until the WC2 manual was Gul'dan's old master and mentioned in one line. Building him up in the second movie would be great if they do intend to go (and maybe end) at the Lich King. I honestly feel like they only did WC1 cause they intended to do WC3 with Medivh. There is nothing interesting that happens after the portal opens except for Khadgar's apprenticeship to Medivh and Orgrim's takeover of the horde. Both of which were fucked over for streamlining purposes. They could have explained the First War and rise of the Horde in a 5-10 minute opening and began the movie in earnest with Blackrock spire being settled and the boats landing in Southshore.
