they don't give a shit. i went to a college with a big theater program and knew most of the people in it. actors by and large are not intellectual at all, even if they're smart in a certain way. most of them have very little sense of what even qualifies as highbrow or intellectually serious, let alone why. thean factor in the financial angle--actors are freelancers with zero job security or career progression. i've known actors that have gotten cast in commercials and hyped it up to me like it was an amazing opportunity to pursue their craft and i needed to see the finished product.
