The logistics of how the Vale's army got there is incomprehensible. At what point did they mobilize? It would take them weeks to reach Winterfell from the Vale if they went by land, and would necessitate crossing through at least one Bolton garrison not to mention traveling the Kingsroad, which somebody is bound to notice.
If they went by ship they'd need birth in White Harbor, it's the only port large enough for an army to disembark, which would be kind of hard to do without the cooperation of the Manderlys. And do they even have enough ships? Could they even transport that many horses by sea in the winter?
Okay setting that aside: how the fuck did they find the battle? Let's assume Littlefinger somehow gets his army into the North before the battle even starts because Sansa told him to be ready going into the fight. Moat Cailin is no longer a bolton garrison I don't think, and LF himself said his knights were there. Even when Sansa refused his help initially, it's likely that he mobilised his knights further anyway, and began to march knowing that he would have to save her. Lastly, I always assumed that one of the letters she sent by Raven was to LF asking him to come help. So the logistics of him getting there and finding the battle (not hard to find several thousand men outside winterfell) is pretty self explanatory.
The confusion comes from why nobody noticed the thousands of horsemen riding towards winterfell earlier, how littlefinger got from molestown to moat cailin to winterfell in such a short span of time, and most importantly why Sansa didn't tell Jon the vale was coming to help.
As others have said, the only logical reason is if Sansa and LF are planning on betraying jon in some way to ensure that Sansa can lay claim (unchallenged) to Winterfell. However I doubt jon wants winterfell, and more likely it was just terrible writing on the part of the TV show.

I did notice that. I also noticed that the camera was angled upwards and that the ground from Jon's army to Ramsay's was at a significant incline, so it is technically just obeying the laws of photon physics that you couldn't see Jon's cavalry.
