I think the most simple and obvious explanation is that Sansa didn't know they were coming, and rode off out of desperation in the hope that LF was coming, since we never saw her get a reply, and she can't ask Jon to make plans based on something that won't happen. Bear in mind she was hedging her bets with LF too, sending Brienne to recruit the Tully's as well. If LF's force alone was enough to crush the Bolton's, no reason to assume other than that the Tully's were a contingency plan.
Seriously though, Dany has been terrible on this show for years. I read the books first, and I was utterly dumbfounded by this scene. It was like a joke parodying action movies and girl power cliches. This and many things after completely destroyed the character's humanity.
I was very upset that people reacted to Ramsey's death as "poetic justice." Ramsey is a bad guy because feeding people to dogs is evil. Feeding Ramsey to the dogs was also evil. Sansa is evil for doing it (and for letting Jon's whole army die instead of telling him about the massive CIA-led force that wa literally minutes away).
