i never left the site i just made a new account with no followers for logging purposes but i basically stopped watching movies anyway

i only came back as nosaj cuz i thought i might be getting back into movies and the community but i was wrong. i pretty intentionally distanced myself from the majority of the internet film community because its a cesspool, the biggest problem with letterboxd or twitter or w/e are the ego's that come with people getting the slightest bit popular. lbxd used to be rewarding in a sense which is unhealthy imo, watching just to log, which is why i deleted in the first place. also only reason i restored the peggy sue review was because it's the first thing ive written all year (i think)

>>71063859
no one is into va, the films that fit the label are often good but the "idea" is utterly useless, it's literally just auteurism with a silly name. funny that for such an anti-canonical thing its kinda developed its own cannon that u can see all over letterboxd now too. anyone that thinks it's something even worth arguing about is an idiot tho.

The OST or the score soundtrack? I like the OST more, but I don't think it contains every song used in the movie. I remember there was a post on the movie's imdb page that listed every song and I used it to make a playlist, back in the day. Good times. :)

just use notepad, guy
you're obviously stressing yourself out for no reason
and people are just going to meme on you because you obviously have autism
constantly creating content and then having people following you and vested in that content, then deleting it is obviously going to rub people the wrong way
just delete everything and never come back
you're taking this ego thing too far
just because a handful of people like your list/review doesn't mean it's the end of the world and you have to delete it
i don't even know what else to tell you
you're one weird cookie and i don't like to see people bullied, but you deserve it all, even the weird stalker guy

Was quite surprised I didn't enjoy ABSD more considering how much I loved Yi Yi. Maybe it was the run time?
If you're looking for an interesting slice-of-life flick about a group of female friends, check out Orouet.
The Witch created some great atmosphere, but I felt like it revealed too much and ruined the eerie mystery it had created.
April was the first mediocre French animated film I had seen in quite a while (both The Little Prince and Ernest and Celestine were great). It tried to be too many things at once and failed.

People want to feel superior to others without the effort that actually goes into it. It is easier to watch a giant list of "great" movies without actually exploring on your own and developing your own taste. wat

That's the Searchers and American Sniper in the picture

Ford directed the Searchers and Eastwood American Sniper

What the fucks got Unforgiven to do with this
>>
>>71071159
I'm pretty sure everyone who grew up in the 50s has this image/film seared into their psyche, let alone Eastwood who practically sees himself as a Fordian director.

Both shots depict men stepping out into unknown territory, having shed the roles that defined them. I'm sure it was entirely intentional.
>>
>>71071400
to add:
>“Anyone would be flattered to be spoken of in the same breath as John Ford,” said a visibly touched Eastwood. “I remember seeing Stagecoach as a kid when it first came out. Ford had an influence on me subconsciously and I watched his films in a dark theater with my knees up on the chair in front of me, sometimes twice in a row.”

>Schrader and Eastwood engaged in a contemplative discussion of key moments Stagecoach and the Ford canon. “You can’t be an American director without owing a debt to John Ford,” said Schrader. Eastwood agreed completely, adding that Ford’s work seeps into one’s DNA. “His influence is like osmosis.”

>Eastwood noted his own 1992 DGA Award-winning film Unforgiven was described upon its release as a eulogy to the Western genre. “When I read that script I thought ‘this would make a perfect last Western.” He also disclosed he felt the real secret of the Western was something that Ford captured completely with Stagecoach —story. “If you have a shot of the lone man standing there, the question is: where did he come from? There is a story in just that one shot of a lone figure out in the vast land and the audience sees it. As a director, your job is to find that story and tell it— that’s what makes the picture work.”
Before the conversation came to a close, Apted stepped in to ask Eastwood “Why was Ford such a game-changer what did he bring to the Western that was so unique?”

>“There’s something about the way he approached his subject that broke down clichés of the era,” said Eastwood. “I think he was always trying to make social statements in his movies and with Stagecoach he used the Western to do it effectively.”
>>
>>71071400
I meant, that it didn't quite sit right in the film. Can't quite find the possible redemption for Kyle
>>
>>71071331
Go back to r/The_Donald, friend.
>>
>>71071701
to be fair it's a really quick cutaway and not really a big "statement" shot like Ford's.

And I don't think the film exonerates Kyle or glosses over his shortcomings. It makes a point to confront his unquestioning love for country at least twice.
