Robb is central to advancing the plot in both the books and the show. Robb's character was always meant to display the problems of Westerosi social hierarchy. He was forced to go to war, bring together the North, took the title of "king" as it was thrust onto him. Marriages got arranged, he spent little time with his family, he was worried about his father, and at about 15 years old he didn't expect to get thrust into his position.
Robb deals with all of that but becomes more like his father as they travel South and is able to put his honor and his duty above his personal problems. He's one of the only characters who is put in a worse position by inheriting his position. The purpose of his character is to display the issues that arise from the society he lives in that have to do with the upper class (as there is enough of a display of the poor suffering) and provides a stark (tee-hee) contrast to the hedonistic revelry of the rest of the lords and ladies of Westeros.

Admiral Theon Greyjoy has a mutually positive relationship established with Sansa Stark and a believably famous redemption story. The conquest of Winterfell can be credited to his courage in helping her escape Winterfell.
Once King's Landing is Dany's, a relatively social order can begin to set in just in time to fight the White Walkers.
Dany as Queen of the Fucking World, Sansa as Warden of the North, Yara as the Queen of the Iron Fleet... the supernatural final battle is probably going to make me feel emotions I've never imagined.

I would prefer this to the more likely scenario that we are supposed to see Jon as 'foolish' for not waiting for support he had no idea was available. Yeah, I really believe that's how it'll end up. The Lannisters will be trapped between everyone. The only complications, however, are Euron and the Tyrells. The Tyrells have been making a long-con game for awhile now, and who knows if they would truly bend the knee to anyone but themselves, same as the Lannisters. It will probably lead to more limp-wristed attempts to enforce fealty (like with Riverrun) but will not be anywhere near as successful because they don't have key hostages or any tactical advantages.

Because of House Bolton Collapses and Sansa seasnake gets control of Winterfell it's pretty much gg for Walder Frey. He's trapped between 3 houses that hate him. Walder Frey doesn't have enough forces to hold the riverlands. He will have to consolidate his forces to protect the twins. (he only has about 300 men in total.) This was mentioned in Book 2 when Rob Stark was talking about crossing the twins. In the absence of Walder the riverlands will inevitably pass back into Tully hands. Possibly, the blackfish wasn't killed. (we never saw him die) or Edamure will finally grow a spine and end up king of the riverlands. either way the Freys are fucked.
