Is this the best Western in the past decade?
fuck yeah Rango thread
>>71054364
I dunno but definitely one of the best animations besides Fantastic Mr Fox
It's cartoon kino.
this
>>71054364
Actually, yeah. It probably is.
>>71054364
this was pretty comfy. I liked how they made the animals look dirty and realistic
we got rango'd
>>71054364
Reminder Johnny Depp got paid 50 MILLION for the role.
>>71054364
Probably. It's definitely Johnny Depp's last best role.
>>71054799
I can't be angry about that. He worked so well with Verbinksi.
It makes me sick that a movie like Finding Dory is probably going to make like a billion dollars and this one barely broke even.
>>71054979
This didn't have the family appeal, the characters looked horrid (intentionally mind you) and it was bleak, I loved it but it was never going to do as well as the Happy Fish Film 2
>>71054364
Definitely one of the best honestly.

>SINKING DEEPER INTO THE GUACAMOLE OF HIS OWN DECEPTION
JAJAJA ARRIBA CABRON
>That rendition of Ride of the Valkyries played on Banjos and moonshine bottles
It sounded so fucking ominous, I loved it. Is there a full version anywhere?
I like how they filmed all the scenes and voice acting together in live action.
>nobody posting screencaps
Who /rattlesnakejake/ here?
>>71054364
fukken loled when the owls told lies all along.
>>71054364
HE DID IT WITH ONE BULLET
>>71055032
Not to mention America's Favorite Dyke™ was made the main star this time for a reason.
>>71055855
Rango and Pacific Rim are two of the best fun films out of Hollywood in ages.

3:10 to Yuma was good. I like Ben Foster.
Can't speak for true Grit though.
Would No Country For Old Men be considered a modern take on a Western?
>>71054364
no, I'd say True Grit was
Rango was enjoyable, but for the most part its really just a very by the numbers remake of Chinatown as a western. It only really gets interesting when it goes off the rails, like the part where he meets the spirit of the west.
This movie was fantastic.
>>71054364
Yes. It's a great movie. Underrated as fuck.
>no man can walk out on his own story

There will never be another ILM animated film because Disney will never let them take the prestige from Pixar and DAnimation.
Never.
>>71060742
ILM and Pixar were both founded by George Lucas. Pixar learnt a lot from ILM, and Disney learnt a lot from Pixar. Funny how things work out.
>>71056093
For some reason, they couldn't get Clint Eastwood.
>>71054364

Here's the scene- I still get chills at the start of it, when the bats first start zeroing in on the wagon.
One thing I thought was great that despite have a cast of "cute" animals all of them are ugly and threatening looking. Mangy looking cats and inbred rabbits. The art direction for the movie is most certainly the best in at least a decade, maybe more.
>>71057139
Agree, True Grit was the last really good western I've watched. Saw 3:10 to Yuma as well, the original was better imo.
>>71054364
This movie was fucking great.
I really like that movie and am glad /tv/ does too
It's second after Big Money Rustlas.
>>71062940
I enjoyed Django Unchained a lot, though I wish the parts of it that felt more like a western (basically everything before they get to the plantation) was a larger portion of the movie
>>71054364
Best Animated Western Pastiche for sure.
>>71059532
