I wouldn't say he was flawless, but Ramsay definitely used his army better.
There's also no way he would have won against the vale showing up at any point (even before) the battle. But that was probably to Jon's advantage that the Vale showed up when they did as Ramsay would have likely pulled back and waited for a siege.
I don't know if this opinion has been made, but would it have been better off if season 6 was just mostly Bran going back and watching important history but not hugely important to the plot. The common opinion is that this season sucked because it's mostly written without GRRM finishing his book. It would have been pretty cool seeing Roberts rebellion with small parts of the current timeline AND then everything going back in season 7 by the time he finished the book

Truly an amazing episode. From the cinematography to the acting - masterful. The shot of Davos during the sunrise, the moment Jon gets trampled under all the soldiers, Daenarys on Drogon and one of the best shots in all of the series: Jon running in to battle. When Jon was being trampled, I could hardly breath. That gives you a sense of how claustrophobic and chaotic this battle really was. The scene when Jon slowly walks towards Ramsay, blocking his arrow and then beats him to a pulp, followed by him being eaten by his own dogs - just amazing. This episode made that boring thing we got last week worth it. Probably the best episode of the whole series. 11/10

I know exactly what happened in those episodes and I'll explain what didn't make sense and let you direct me to scenes that explain them if you like? I know they don't exist however so there's no point in me doing this but whatever:
1. Jon's initial plan is tactically inept, he tells sansa that battles have been won against greater odds but neglects to mention that this was almost always a result of superior training, superior weaponry or a superior tactical position, all three of which ramsay actually has over him.
2. Ramsay's plan is actually even worse than this somehow, reminder that he literally killed hundreds of his own men with his own arrows so that he could implement his epic "surround them with pikes" formation. He should have either stayed in the castle or used his superior numbers in a more tactical manner.
3. speaking of the pike formation, this never should have worked, all of those infantry had to run about 300m and form a solid circular wall against an essentially similar number of men and a giant. It wasn't even a charge, everyone just ran with their spears up till they got in position, if at any point the wildings had simply decided to meet them the shield wall would have had huge gaping holes in it
4. Wun Wun breaks through the wall in one scene but immediately after that the gap in the wall has mysteriously disappeared and Wun Wun is back to just kind of standing there.
5. Why does sansa not tell jon about the vale army she has coming? Is she not sure that it will arrive and doesn't want to give false hope? She seems pretty confident that they should wait for more men so she's portrayed as knowing they're on their way. The only reason not to do this is to have them come in and save the day but this is boring as fuck. If the issue is that sansa needed the wildings and northmen to lure ramsay into a trap then she still should have told jon this plan, it would have saved almost literally thousands of lives on both sides.

I'm not sure we know where Ramsay intended to shoot Wun Wun. If the show is any indication, it's that Ramsay is remarkably skilled with a bow.
I agree that shooting Jon with a bow wasn't incredibly well thought out but if I'm Ramsay, that's pretty much all I can hope to do in that situation.
Also, Jon was sort of saved by the random buckler laying around.

What I was disputing was the Sansa making Jon legitimate and that automatically giving Jon more right rather than what it seems from the leaks it's gonna be where it's the North who legitimizes Jon and hails him Jon Stark King in the North, not Sansa.
