I'm not really educated on economies or markets or money AT ALL, but when a business becomes more successful with an exponentially rising amount of customers, shouldn't they usually lower prices instead of raising them because they don't need that much money per customer any more to keep the business afloat and also to show off that they have better prices than their competition as a possible selling point?

Why be a price leader when you can be a product leader? It's like asking Audi to sell their sedans at Corolla prices.

No, they find the max profits by testing how high they can raise their prices while only losing a small portion of their clients.

It depends on the competition and their prices but most probably not.

10 bucks for unlimited watchings(is it? i never used it) of movies and shows is pretty damn good.
i think it used to cost about 2-3 bucks to rent two movies back in the day so 10 bucks is basically nothing.
2 packs of fags, 2 meals at the dicks or like 5 bottles of coke.
its nothing.

I hate this. preloading videos is essential for most households with <20Mb speeds. I have 50 but at peak traffic times I still hit buffering gaps. It's frustrating.

I pretty much only rent from Xbox/Microsoft now. That plays offline just fine.

Convenient, but the selection is dogshit. It's extremely rare that I can't find something on public trackers and so turn to netflix to find it, and not the opposite

>>71013056
Actually, sometimes you can actually increase your sales by raising your prices. A lot of people will automatically assume the most expensive thing is the best. Marketers have been taking advantage of this for decades. Depending on what demographic you're targeting it's sometimes best to raise your prices.
>>
>>71013893
Fuck off gay guy. My Comcast bill is already over $200 bucks.
>>
Instead of spending a monthly fee on netflix, why not just buy a 1 or 2 TB hard drive and pirate everything? It'll save you money in the long run. If you have shit internet that can't regularly download 10-20GB shows or movies then you don't have good enough internet for netflix in the first place
>>
>>71014013
Because I'm not a poor degenerate and like to contribute to society.
>>
>>71013905
Impossible at HD quality.

8Mb is roughly 1MB/s

HD rentals are 1.2-1.5MB/s
>>
I only subscribe a few months out of the year because I want to show my lack of support for their awful original programming and poor selection in general.

Your money is not going to the people that actually made the shows and movies, not even remotely close. Currently it's going to great Adam Sandler Netflix movies like The Ridiculous 6 and The Do-Over. So nice job.

>Your money is not going to the people that actually made the shows and movies, not even remotely close
It goes to Netflix paying a licensing fee for other films and shows to stream, which goes to a studio/distributor, which then goes to producing/distributing other films and shows. That's how the business works, things are paid for in advance in hopes of making money in the future.

The only thing I have watched in the past two months on Netflix is Peaky Blinders. All other remotely good shows on Netflix can be found elsewhere. Netflix just paid to make this show an exclusive. I will be cancelling on a matter of principle because they are raising mine too. 10 dollars a month isn't that much, but the fucks have a substandard selection. I can't wait for this whole Netflix fad to die. It doesn't encourage cord cutting, 2.3% percent of people cut cable in 05, it fell to only 1.5% in 2010 and 2.5% cut cable in 2015. It always hovers around the 2% number. Increasing prices discourage people from cable, not watching literally nothing on Netflix.

Then you're using the wrong notation.

Mbps = megaBITS per second
MB/s = megaBYTES per second

1080p is usually 1.2 - 1.5 MB/s
4K would be fine if your connection is 20 MB/s but that would be 200 Mbps

I'll pay ten bucks a month to watch random documentaries I'd never hear of otherwise, be able to give movies and TV shows a shot without having to seed for days on btn or ptp, and having parks or the office or peep show autoplay me to sleep every night. "u can get it for free" a retarded way of looking at things sometimes. I wonder how many of you anti Netflix kiddies live your lives this way or if cost only outweighs convenience when it can be found without leaving your room.
