A great joke is about subject matter that is articulated for the first time, like when a comedian jokes about something everyone though or noticed but never talked about. It's cathartic. Borat was so on point in the way he made fun of ex-Soviet expats, both ex-Soviets and Westerners who had to put up with their shit immediately recognised the hilarity of it.
I hated fucking Borat. It was too obviously staged and edited yet they tried to pass it off as real. That and it was filled with obvious leftest messages with no real bite.

All of them are amazing in the TV show and the variety makes it less stale. I'm not a fan of the films, since they have a lower jokes-per-minute ratio due to the needless plot.
