Has any network show ever shown a character come so close to killing themselves as this? (And a fucking comedy for that matter.) Why is King of the Hill so based?
Didn't Homer almost commit suicide in season 1?

yep. cinder-block and a bridge.

Fuck I can't remember this episode. What happened?

Its the one where it starts off with Peggy designing a float for a Veteran's Day parade and wants to use Cotton's medals on the soldiers on the float. Hank finds out Cotton is broke as fuck and living at the VFW and gets him a shitty job at a restaurant being a bathroom attendant.

Interestingly, Homer doesn't kill himself in that episode because he finds purpose in getting a stop sign installed on that bridge where he was going to an hero. And in the KOTH episode where Cotton almost kills himself there is a throwaway joke about a yield sign in town being REMOVED.
Cotton never wanted to commit suicide.

There was a point in the simpsons where Moe had his head in an oven with a sign saying "no funeral" on his back.

Watch it again.
>>70987538
he's had a noose multiple times

I've seen the episode multiple times. His actions in the episode are ambiguous at best, however if you look at his character within the scope of the entire series, its clear that you are wrong. KOTH isn't a standalone type show, so you really have to watch all of the episodes multiple times in order to understand characters' motivations at times. Kahn is the only character on the show that was ever suicidal.

old simpsons was good

Thanks.

Oh also missing the obvious choice: Bill, who had multiple episodes dedicated to his explicit suicide attempts.
