Thunderball is really damn close, considering Ian Fleming wrote it first as a screenplay then just made it a novel instead

You may have thought the quality was good, but it wasn't purely true to the book and that's what this thread is about.

The Elves never came to Rohan's aid.

The Ents decide to go to war on their own accord.

Aragorn never almost died / got separated from the Rohirrim.

Eomer is not banished and is present at the battle of Helm's Deep; Erkenbrand is the man who arrives with Gandalf at the end of the battle.

Theoden sends his people to Dunharrow, not Helm's Deep for refuge.

Frodo and Sam going to Osgiliath is entirely fabricated. Also, Faramir desiring the ring was seen as a huge character change.

That's just a few things I can list off without much effort.

Philosopher's stone.

It's been ages since I read and watched A Clockwork Orange but I remember the movie being pretty faithful to the book

Seriously, why do people think Lynch's Dune wasn't a faithful adaptation? Obviously many elements were minimized or deleted for time but when it comes to dialogue, characterization, and the majority of the plot, it stays very close to the novel. It's a flawed movie but it was a competent adaptation.

At the height of the cold war, the russians would firmly believe those reports were misinformation.

The US would believe manhattan defected and the reports of russian cities being destroyed were misinformation.

every ICBM in both arsenals would be in the air within minutes of cities being destroyed by manhattan with neither side willing to be the first to stand down.

but hey, this is easy trolling, right?

Sin city is probably try closest adaption to its written material that I've ever seen.

The smallest change was dwights inner monologue about Marv in the first movie was meant for the story a dame to kill for. Other than that it was basically the same as the comic

>>
>>70984235
Considering there wasn't a single nuclear launch and nearly a dozen cities in the world got wiped. Theres no way they would believe that was common misinformation given the extraordinary circumstances.

I don't think you understand something child, the Cold War remained Cold because the Soviets, and Americans weren't stupid. They would've had a dozen chances to blow the world up, but they didn't because they didn't slam keys in and buttons down at the first sight they believed something bad happened.

Not to mention Manhattan had a mental breakdown on live TV, of which the Soviets would very obviously have been informed of. THEY EVEN mention it in the movie that they up their invasion in Afghanistan because Manhattan is gone. Him going crazy and blowing everything up makes perfect sense. You dumb fuck

If you can prove otherwise go ahead, I won't argue, but I'm more than positive that's what happens
>>
>>70984489
I'm still not following your non-logic here.

you're saying the because the russians knew it was manhattan that destroyed MOSCOW, and not a nuclear weapon, even thought manhattan was the US of A's ultimate weapon and ultimate nuclear deterrent and nuclear defense, in the setting, they would just be fine with an american super weapon destroying their centers of government? Because they'd somehow instantly (magically) know it wasn't just russian cities and completely trust the reports of US cities being vaporized?

Do you honestly believe that singular bit of technology is only in America? Do you honestly think a dozen of the worlds largest cities could all suddenly explode, and the Russians would just go "Nah its misinformation launch the nukes"

I'm glad you never had a say in the Cold War we'd all be dead because you saw a fucking flock of geese.
>>
>>70984646
Hector never had the upperhand, ever. Athena did some shenanigans with a spear or something but it wasn't the reason why Achilles won, he just straight up beasted Hector on his own.

No in all seriousness, I'll admit defeat, but I'll also admit that I wasn't aware there were different versions, plus I read it years ago and the version I read was not a "kiddie" version.

I'm looking it up and apparently there has been different versions of the fight, even one with them dueling it out in the middle of a battle. I think everything in mine was just about the same besides the fight.

That original version does sound more badass, but it also kinda seems to weaken Hectors character by having him be chased around 3 times like a chicken shit asshole.

Idk its hard to tell which version id prefer. One makes hector look like too much of a pussy, and the other one made them a little more equal until one of the gods interfered.
