That's not how it works at all
Imagine you have teleportation powers like in Jumper and for shits and giggles you decide to teleport up into the sky to experience the sensation of flying. Then you realize you didn't pack a parachute like a retard. How do you get out of this situation? You can teleport back up to gain more time, but you'll always be moving at freefall speed.
