Honestly, one of the few "art house" horror movies I've seen recently that I actually enjoyed. The ending falls a bit flat but overall I thought it was a good slow-burn psychological horror/thriller movie.

I watched a couple scifi horror movies, the one that stood out to me was the village full of mutants where they don't escape, and the girls who live end up getting raped to produce more mutant babies.
I can't remember what it's called, though.
It was fine. It didn't really want me to say anything else.
The actor choices added some predictability to it.

Bump for interesting rap- horror movie.
I really liked it a lot. Anyone know what "The Blackcoat's Daughter" means?
fun fact: this movie was directed by Oz Perkins, son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins

my excitement for a novel and quality horror to watch ended the moment I read "slow-burn"
boring never makes this more interesting, unnerving, or scary.

OP here, I usually agree. I hated the Witch for that very reason. But for me it all depends on how its handled. This movie had an intriguing enough story and good twist to justify the "slow-burn" element and the movie becomes more and more unnerving as the plot progresses. Its almost like a more art-house version of the Shining.
Anyone else notice the Japanese-like structure of the plot?

elaborate please
>>70939898
How it was divided by chapters centered on a character, and the story being thus fragmented.
