What did horror fans think of Freddy vs. Jason?
General classic horror movie discussion is allowed too.
Fuck the wolfman

What did the stoner with the sleep mess say again?
>>70919110
good
>>70919110
I loved it actually. Both a good Freddy and a good Jason film. Captured the essence of both franchises well, and had a great mash-up in the end. I would say this is, surprisingly or not, the best vs. movie we have right now.
>>70919110
definitely missed some of its potential but I'm just thankful a Freddy vs. Jason movie exists.
This was a great fake out.
>>70919321
>definitely missed some of its potential
If you saw some of those original scripts (like with the Freddy and Jason cultists), this is as good as it was gonna get
What I truly lament is how bad they fucked up making a sequel and couldn't secure ANY horror franchise
Probaly the best horror mash up to date, and good on them for picking to virtually immortal ones, because mike myers and leatherface would get destroyed by both.
This shitfest suffers from a severe lack of Hodder and a director who couldn't care less about the material.
>>70919110
Robert Englund is on his game when he plays Freddy in this but the guy that played Jason pissed me off because he was walking around like the Frankenstein monster and the fucking director told him to do that.
>>70919826
We will NEVER get a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie. It hurts.
If anyone can guess what classic horror movie this is from, I will leave the internet forever.
>>70919110
It was the first horror movie I saw
I liked it
>>70922507
The closest Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie we have is Jason Goes To Hell.
>>70922519
Friday the 13th part six?
It took whatever charm either series had left and made a bland incest baby out of them.
>>70922519
The Burning?
>>70922565
>>70922572
No.
And those are too recent. A hint!
some good tits early on in the movie, good fap material for my younger self
>>70922519
Darkness
I liked it a few missed opportunities but overall great film. Main girl had great tits so that helped
>>70922601
'Kay, help us out some more, anon. Looks 70s-ish. Is it a slasher?Don't leave the internet pls.
>>70922629
Wanna know how I know you cheated? Plus, he said The Burning and Ft13th: VI were too recent so that can't be it.
>>70922519
Jeepers creepers
>>70922677
Okay, I promise. Correct decade, but it's not a slasher.
It was silly. But in a good way.
>>70922739
Is it giallo? If so, I'm not terribly familiar with the genre.
>>70922374
> it's bad because the actor underneath a costume that hides 100% of his body and face is wrong
I mean Hodder is cool and all but come on.
>>70922837
No.
Another hint: It's an original that was later remade.
Second nother hint: Some, perhaps many, prefer the remake (but they may not have seen the original, I suspect...)
>>70922856
Hodder pretty much defined how Jason moves. His pace, his mannerisms, everything. Don't tell me you couldn't tell it wasn't him wearing the suit in FVJ. That takes skill, man.
>>70922874
holy shit dude just say the fucking title
you think you're some fucking horror connoisseur that you know some 70s fucking b movie and a lot of us here don't, i'm not even interested in this fucking bullshit quiz that you hijacked the thread with. holy shit get off that high horse of yours you dumb shit.
>>70922696
Because you probably did the same thing.
>>70922934
Kindly shut the fuck up and let us have some fun, faggot. There's a thing called multitasking. Most of us here are capable of talking horror movies and enjoying anon's quiz.
>>70922874
>Some, perhaps many, prefer the remake (but they may not have seen the original, I suspect...)
That description perfectly fits The Fly, but that's an 80s remake. Hmm.
>>70922934
Everyone here knows this movie, although most have only seen the remake. They do know that the original exists.
>>70923015
Another good hint: The director passed on recently. A famous one.

Orgasm!
The reason I chose this still is you probably have seen the remake and remember the scene where Bob, the dad, gets burned alive. Then you probably also remember shortly after when his corpse gets suddenly dragged away off the screen, presumably by the hills people. I don't think we get to see what they do with the body.
Here, in the original, is the scene that shows what happens to Bob, after he is crispy and back at the hills peoples' camp. The leader (who isn't big brain in a wheelchair) is yelling at him, cursing him for daring to invade his territory...while he is eating pieces off him. Bob's body is sitting up, somehow. This shot is of Bob's stare back at him.
I thought it was an interesting confrontation between characters--one dead but with an open-eyed, horrifies stare, while the other man is eating him and yelling at him.
Poor Bob...
>>70923274
>The director passed on recently. A famous one.
To be fair, you gave me a pretty good hint. The remake wasn't complete shit, but the original is one of those movies that will always manage to send chills down my spine. Thanks for the fun game, anon.
>>70923350
Sure thing.
I saw the remake before I watched the original. The remake was kind of fun, but the original is grittier, dirtier and more thoroughly unpleasant and I definitely prefer it.
>>70923438
By the way, this >>70922572 is top tier. It's not just a great slasher movie, but a good movie overall.
Pinhead was going to be in the ending originally, but due to budget cuts and copyright, that never happened. The fight between Freddy and Jason was supposed to be in Hell. New Line fucked up the Friday series big time,I'm surprised they didn't put Jason in the hood.
>>70922519
Cat people?

Born in the 80s, i was waiting for this movie forever. There was no way it was going to meet my expectations.
Jason X > Freddy vs Jason
>>70924012
They even made barf bags for this movie.
>>70919826
>What I truly lament is how bad they fucked up making a sequel and couldn't secure ANY horror franchise
What other series did they try to get the rights to?
>>70924212
They came close to making an Ash vs Freddy vs Jason
