Yeah, but Scorsese kind of invented that with Goodfellas. It's only because everyone has been copying it since that it annoys you. You have to respect the originator. Scorsese said he wanted Goodfellas to feel like how someone thinks. That is why shit stops all of a sudden and the voice over comes in. That is literally how people think when they are remembering things. He is a genius.

Well, you are in the extreme minority there. It has become annoying since with the slew of imitators, but at the time it was new and innovative. He by no means invented it, but he surely perfected it.
And it is not shitty storytelling. Remember, the entire film is told in past tense by Henry Hill as he is remembering his life after ratting out his cohorts in court and then going into the witness protection program. Scorsese was not just doing it for the fuck of it. The entire movie is a voice-over flashback basically. It was so tight, that people don't even realize how tight the story-telling was. They just assume it was some type of cliche meme or something, like you. Let me guess, you are under 25 years old?

Casino looks better, but Goodfellas is more entertaining. Casino is a bit on the long side, and it definitely drags in certain parts. I don't feel like the plot is as engaging from start to finish as Goodfellas' is, especially all the stuff with Sharon Stone.
I think there are more iconic scenes in Goodfellas, too.
Although, only one of them has De Niro wearing giant oversized glasses made for an 80 year old woman.

Goodfellas' length works because Henry Hill is constantly moving around and doing different things, the story is branching out at all points.
The middle of Casino is just De Niro yelling at Sharon Stone over and over. It's too stagnant to support that running time.

I read something years ago about Marty purposely made the draining and nagging of the relationship very clear and drawn out to inflict the viewer of an emotionally abusive and manipulating dysfunctional relationship.
He apparently cut out quite a bit but upon early screenings, the implied effects and tear down of Ace's character an love and patience wasn't fully shown so he included the scenes.
I never understood this fully until I was in a relationship with a Ginger of my own, that's what I think Casino does so fucking well, show love, relationship and internal strength of a man from a male's perspective.

How did Deniro become such a powerhouse? My favorite roles from him are Deer Hunter and Taxi Driver. I rewatch both atleast once a year occasionally more on Taxi Driver's case, Travis is engimatic yet depressing at the same time.

How the fuck did people not get that Henry Hill was fucked either way at the end of Goodfellas? If he took the prison sentence, he would have rotted away for christ knows how long with the strong possibility that his mafia buddies would have him killed before he could rat. On top of that, when he got out he'd have nothing, since Paulie obviously would never trust him again. His only hope of a future was flipping, even if it makes him a miserable prick.
