Am I the only one who likes Kirk's new outfit. Also who do you think Beyond is going to turn out? I don't think it could be as bad as Into Darkness and I legitimately enjoyed 09. I'm thinking it will be between the two and be meh.
>>
>>70878127
I love Star Trek. Simon Pegg is great in it.
He wrote parts of the script and is a huge fan so I know it's gonna' be good.
Thanks OP.

I like the Beyond outfits too. Cautiously optimistic about Beyond; trailer 2 was pretty Trekky imo.

Simon Pegg is f*cking awesome. One of my faves too. I hope he delivers.

It's the best science fiction television series EVER MADE. Boy are you in for a real treat.

-gray moral dilemmas (finally showing some of the federations underbelly)
-long story arcs
-characters with the most depth out of any other star trek show
-maximum amounts of comfiness levels (i mean its a mall in space, how much more comfy can u get)
>>
>>70878127
It's a little upsetting that the 2017 Star Trek teaser was far more reminiscent of Doctor Who than any Star Trek series.

Err.. I guess it's fair to say he's no worse than Janeway was from what I've seen so far.

We don't need a general thread with a bunch of easily-googled shit posted at the top like this is some kind of e-newsletter.

We also don't need constant Trek threads that are just filled with the same greentext "jokes".

its helpful to understand that is actually fucking crazy in real life....and so is actually putting on quite the performance on screen.
>>
>>70882356

His deliver is all over the place on tone and pacing. It's actually jarring.

I can understand the character's gruffness, but his portrayal comes off as straight up psychotic instead of authoritarian.

watch interviews from various trek documentaries, particularly The Captains. Also, you can watch panel sessions from conventions...dude is fucking nuts.
>>
>>70878194

Star Trek 09 was fine, Into Darkness had people seriously worried because it looked like JJ & Crew were just a one-hit wonder and had no idea what to do with star trek (which was partially true). Honestly the biggest issue with Into Darkness was the writers, Kurtzman and Orci are not great and Lindelof (sp.) is a hack. If Stark Trek Beyond was still being handled by those same writers I would probably have pretty low expectations for it. But Simon Pegg is a pretty proven writer, I think Justin lin will do fine, and there was never really anything wrong with the cast.

>>
>>70884292
Just finished The Captains. Avery Brooks is a little... uh... eccentric.
>>
>>70884292
Yeah, the guy barely says two words, even when asked a direct question by a fan. It's like he thinks he's above it all and that he's wasting his time at conventions.

I only found one panel he appeared on that he actually gave somewhat substantial answers to questions he was asked. I think he did so partially because Lofton (Jake Sisko) made fun of how he answered questions a few times.

Something very suspicious about this thread....
>>
>>70887119
No problem. Watching the convention panels and interviews is a mixed bag. You can get quite a bet out of them in terms of behind the scenes stuff. Sometimes it's exactly what you'd expect. Sometimes you receive a pleasant surprise and/or acquire a deeper appreciation for the show and the actors' performances, etc. Sometimes you end up disappointed and disillusioned.

Oh well. Just gotta take everything with a grain of salt.

A true victory is to make your opponent realize they were wrong to oppose you, in the first place -- to force them to acknowledge your greatness.

Honestly I'm surprised Assignment Earth isn't brought up more in Trek/Fandom.

One of the best TOS episodes, great characters and interesting premise for a Star Trek spinoff.

A series about Seven, Isis and Lincon going around and secretly stopping events that would have catastrophic consequences for humanity during the 1960s, 1970s is a pretty decent idea for a show in my opinion.

Also Trek needs more sexy cat girls
