at the time I thought it was groundbreaking. The entire film feels color-corrected specifically for 3D, taking into account the glasses' 30% light and color loss.
The cinematography compensates by making everything vivid and bright, so that it looks awesome even when wearing those shitty dark glasses. I thought every 3D film should do that: have one normal cut for 2D viewing and one extra bright cut for 3D. Alas, that never happened...

What really got me into PWSA was how in Afterlife and Retribution there are certain parts where something just *happens* to make me more aware of the space that the world and characters occupy, it became a very 3D experience even when I was watching just in 2D.
Best example the Afterlife opening, Retribution more 'digital' bits (same with Afterlife, when they are at Umbrella corp or when they pass through the various set pieces in Retribution to get to the surface), this thing doesn't really happen in similar scale or quality in other scenes like when Alice lands to where the safe haven is supposed to be but its just empty abandoned place.
It's just so aware of the space and directs you through the set pieces so effortlessly.
