I love Grimy but this is pretty much the first episode WHOLLY built around wink wink meta humor, lazy pandering, and a cartoonish cop out ending with no emotional stakes.

Would have been a fun diversion on its own but its popularity made the writers think it was ok for the whole show to be like that.

Most episodes from season 9 are far worse than pretty much any episode from previous seasons but I don't think the on in OP is one of them. It's one of the good episodes I'd gladly rank among the top episodes.
