I Cant even think of a response to convey how much i hated true detective season 2

I saved a man from drowning once. Gave him the kiss of life and everything. And you know what he did, Ray? He thanked me. The asshole fucking thanked me.
>>70857118
Caspere knew this.
>>70857235
fucking caspere
>>70857118
that scene when he beats up the kids that makes fun of his boy... GOAT
Did the phrase "Caspere knew this" ever actually get uttered in the show?

Pineapple is sweet and delicious, the first man to discover that, he had a knife
>I hate rollercoasters, Ray. Never trust something that straps you in, turns you upside down, and forces your hands in the air. Following every slow ascent there's an immediate plummet. I never ride rollercoasters, Ray, but I'm not afraid to build one.

>Candles are nice Ray. You light it and it glows, filling the room with sweet smells. But all candles go out eventually Ray. It's just matter of time. Buy candles Ray, but never light them.
Why, if it was the same writer, is season 1 so perfect and season 2 so shit?
>>70860923
season 1 was heavily plagiarized
>>70860969
From what?
>>70860923
Season 2 isn't shit though.

Its a massive step down from season 1.
Compare Frank monologues to Rust.

Season one's lead director left
rest in peace gay muslim security guard
>>70857118
I'm only on episode 4 but I think Vince's performance so far is pretty good actually. His lines are silly sometimes but that's the writing.
>>70861582
His few good moments are the best part of the season, next to Woodrugh. Velcoro and Bezzerides are almost universally dogshit.

>Did the phrase "Caspere knew this" ever actually get uttered in the show?
Did John Oliver actually say "IT'S 2015"?
Maybe once or twice, but that's all it takes.
Any news on season 3?
>>70861640
Yea honestly I don't understand the people praising Ferrals Ray performance. His voice is just wrong. Every time he talks it sounds forced. Vince on the other hand seems totally comfortable with his character and a gangster trying to retire/go straight and getting pulled back in is way more interesting than a deadbeat dad/crooked cop.
I don't like Woodrugh so for though. I'm indifferent to Bezz

Answer this
>>70861827
Thomas Lugotti I think his name was.
>>70861726
The show has been shut down. There won't be a season 3.
>>70861582
He only gets better from there.
>>70861989
No official word on the matter from HBO or Pizza. Just unfounded and unconfirmed sources
>>70861989
They will eventually.
>>70862084
Are there any other movies/shows where he plays a serious role?
>>70861989
Every. Single. Thread.
>>70862189

>>70861827
Ligotti
most of those 3deep5me rust lines are from this guy
>>70862189
why is she somemebros?
>>70862304
Hmmm so Pizza stole the Rust lines then tried to make Frank say "deep" stuff on his own. Sneaky Pizza.
>>70862368
It's clearly homage. It was pretty obvious to me that Rust had found Ligotti and Sartre and various other nihilists, anti natalists and what have you, on his own and was spitting out their words because it gave him comfort in the bleak world he was left after his daughter's death.
As far as Frank trying to say deep stuff, I saw that as homage to older movies with fast talking gangster/detective characters and various other characters who attempt to sound smarter than they are just by using big words. Thought that was clearly the case with Frank. Guy thought he was so smart, but he was in over his head, way over. Not unlike Stringer Bell.

And he plays a great phony tough guy wannabe in that god awful Get Shorty sequel.

>[mumbling], Marty. [mumbling].
What did he mean by this?
>>70862294
Whatever man.
>>70862482
>because it gave him comfort
Thank you. I hate people who say Rust's emotional breakdown at the end ruined his character. Those people never really understood who he was they just thought "omg he's le edgey witty nihilist like me!"
Its like they missed the whole point of the scene where he's denouncing the religious people in the revival tent, he told himself lies too they were just different.
>>70863665
Besides we're told several times he reads a lot in season 1, so it's correct to assume from where he got his ideas.
>>70862590
What the fuck is Le Ddit? Spell like a normal human being you autistic spergelord
>>70863791
And he has all sorts of books stacked up along that wall in his apartment, easily half way up it. It seems a lot of the autists here see no difference between the stuff Rust went through, and running out of GBP for tendies tonight.
I enjoyed the season but.
It should have just been Colin and Mcadams with Vaughn as a side character. I liked him but Gaycop was useless in the overall scheme of things.
>>70864274
He was a fucking god warrior
>>70864274
>>70864465
Main dynamic should have been Velcoro and Woodrugh with Frank as a side character. Basically cut all of the bullshit scenes with Frank's wife and his existential crisis. He's just a guy in a bar who has his ear to the street and has a working relationship with the two cops. He has some information for them, so they go beat up a journalist in exchange for that info. More shit like that. I'd want to keep Ani as a side character if only for dat sweet sweet ass. Like Velcoro is just another cop she's banging. We don't need her entire overblown storyline.
