This is such an oddly polarizing movie. It's clearly not as good as the first but I don't get the outright hate it gets from die hard GB fans.

The only thing I wasn't fond of was the overblown fight at the end.
Highlights were Ron inventing sensationalism and the parody of forced interracial pairings. Fucking died laughing when he and the black chick defiantly looked at the camera during the sex scene.
>>
>>70780881
I'll get to watch it eventually. Is it an overlooked Snyderkino?
>>
>>70781231

Absolutely. It's a genuinely good movie.
>>
>>70781171
James Rolfe mentioned that he felt conditioned to dismiss the movie outright because of the negative reception he'd read before finally sitting down and rewatching it.

Makes me wonder how many bloggers/journalists/posters, etc. just claim to hate a movie they didn't watch or only watched years before because they feel it's the cool thing to do.

Before anyone assumes I'm dismissing every negative review, of course there are people who are legitimately not going to like it. I just wonder how many people simply bandwagon to sound like they're in touch.

mixed but some people hate it with a passion just because of "it's not a 1:1 copy of muh book".

It has issues, but ultimately I think it's a enjoyable movie.

So true. It annoys me that most people prefer Angry Birds style animation to this.
>>
>>70781447

Anyone with taste understands that most books cannot be adapted 1:1 due to narrative differences. The plot was intact, the style was captured, and the actors were on point. No one cars that they threw in a few modern songs for stylistic flair.

it was a really amazing adaptation with ALL of the level of detail that was put into the visuals, regardless.

Those movies have issues and Indy 4 is worst in the franchise but the hate is overblown.

Those movies aren't complete dogshit imo, they're watchable but ultimately disappointing.

That doesn't mean they're unwatchable abominations.

There has to be a middle ground on these things, It can't be either GOAT or unwatchable dogshit.
>>
>>70781863
It's all about expectation. Yes, compared to iron man 3/skyline Spectre is a decent movie. Compared to the James Bond legacy and the obscene amount of funding and time that was put into it, it's a disgraceful mess. There is no reason for the plot to be this incoherent, poor character development and awful pacing. Spectre fucking sucks.
>>
>>70781698
I get it man, you can hate if you want but I genuinely like both of those movies. I saw Prometheus twice in theaters opening weekend, I didn't even know it was hated so much till a little later. I'm just a big Indy fan all around but I understand the hate for it, I just don't share that hate, it's the weakest in the series, I still enjoy it
>>
>>70781906
>I am gonna check that out.

>>
>>70781863
a lot of those sense don't evoke any emotion and don't look great, if maybe just a little mysterious. It's a movie that just kind of gets up it's own ass too much, on top have having a lot of pointless scenes, like C, and even worse, scene with Christoph that try to have gravity, but even if you've seen the previous movies DOESN'T.

It just trips and fumble and flails around like it was a naked gun movie, without the comedy.

It's like a light comedy, without the comedy, just LIGHT.

The first 15 minutes of Skyfall trumps that movie so hard. Besides Craig is on a suicide watch because of Spectre so BTFO.
>>
>>70781948

At least in the case of Indy it's hard to separate the expectation from the reality. It's like Star Wars VII; We've wanted a real sequel for so long that the bar is naturally super high. So even "ok" ends up being "bad" in our eyes.
>>
>>70781974

Considering how much of that legacy consists of most of Roger Moore's run, Quantum of Solace, Diamonds Are Forever, and Die Another Day, I'd say Spectre isn't even the worst Bond film. Not great, but definitely not the worst.

>>
>>70782085
I think Spectre is the worst bond film, Die Another Day had a great opening scene and OKAY song, that actually was the first bond film to tie the title card scene into the plot.

Diamonds Are Forever is a classic, so fuck you. No Bond fan would REALLY need much to defend it as NOT the worse, hell I us eto think Thunderball was the worse until now.

Quantum of Solace was a FANTASTIC follow up to Casino Royale, and only lacked at the finale scene, but then had a great tie up of Vespers Arc, so it was kinda forgiven.

Roger Moore is legend, that alone right there shoots you in the foot. Wasn't much worse, becaue you were not expecting much.

I think we all expect more of Craig, but there was a lot of useless shit in Spectre, and a finale bond villina REINTRODUCED and gone in seconds.

Horrible way to introduce a villain. Baron Samde was better, and every other Bond Villain in Moores run was introduced and used better.

OH LOOK HE POSTED IT AGAIN.

Yeah, that scene was bad, but that's the worest of it. And we were not expecting that much from Bronson. the bar wasn't that high, and to be honest the Diamond Face villain was fucking sweet. The final doomsday canon, and the gadget were great, the fucking intro song was better then Spectres even.

6/10 isn't the worse bond movie, because after Tomorrow Never Dies, I was not expecting GREAT.

After Skyfall I was expecting great, even just par, or sub-par, not that mess.

a fucking mess, they couldn't get a single part right.

>Diamonds Are Forever is a classic, so fuck you. No Bond fan would REALLY need much to defend it as NOT the worse, hell I us eto think Thunderball was the worse until now.

I liked Diamonds, anon, but you're shitting yourself and calling it chocolate if you think it was a Connery era highlight. Bond was phoning it in hard throughout and clearly didn't give a shit about the part anymore.

As for your shit taste in Roger Moore, there's no helping you. You have no idea what constitutes a good bond film and really have no place discussing the series. Roger Moore was a good Bond in the same way that Adam West was a good Batman. Moore was a parody at best.

Die Another Day isn't bad. I could watch it a few times without getting bored, but Spectre I don't even want to watch that lazy fucking title card song. To see the movies fall back into the old tropes.

Ugh....

Die Another Day had a lot more original stuff it was trying to work into it, instead of falling back onto lazy writting. It knew that a lot of it was corn fed trash at that point and this was going to be the last campy bond movie.

For the time, it was good. Spectre, for it's time, is bad.

Tv shows surpass that quality.

I can easily say the first bond movies made were the worse, unless you hold them up to the times...

Spectre runs like a bad NCIS episode. At least Die Another Day still felt like a movie, not just a Netflix Original.

I thought it was an interesting twist on the Star Wars, it's the first I've ever seen a Space Marine. Pre-dates Doom. I never expected that shit to happen, and I am surprised to this day that people hate that scene in the movie thinking it looks campy. I think they did a fantastic job. Lazers look great, and the a lot of shots, especially the wide shots are just to die for.

I mean you can't hold it up to much logic, but that's true of EVERY BOND MOVIE, but you can't look at the wide shot of that and think that looks like crap.

>"cash in on star wars"

Dude Bond movies have always been following trends.... that's just what they do.

Magnum PI popular? You get Dalton in Miami looking for Coke.

Blaxploitation? Moore in the Bayou during mardi gras.

Fuck into Bourne?
>bond
>craig

THAT'S HOW THEY STAY FRESH.

If the worse thing about Die Another Day is how much it was going after Swordfish, which really says how shitty movies were the start of 2000, that Swordfish was the best movie out.

The worest part is the Arctic scenes, the rest is good.

>Bourne

Craig's films aside from QoS are nothing like Bourne.

Bourne movies after the 1st one are absolute trash with retarded editing and horrible camera work (Skyfall and Spectre are nothing like this, Casino ESPECIALLY is nothing like that)

Craig's films are inspired by Mission Impossible imo.

Over-the-top with hints of realism and characterization.

the motorbike race scene in MI:5 was just leaps and bounds better then the car chase in Spectre which was such a let down seeing as they filmed the car chance in fucking Italy, Rome of all places.

Again it was the tension, they could fall off the bike and die (even though you know that won't happen) where the car scene was such a fucking snooze fest

Actually, mt only major issue with it was Nick.

In the books, Nick is built up to be a trustworthy narrator. He is the core foundation for the book. We can rely on him to tell us, the reader, the truth, which none of the other characters are able or willing to do.

In the movie, they go out of their way to break him down. Like, they waste time in the film to make Nick a weaker narrator, which makes for a weaker narrative as a whole as we can no longer trust Nick, seeing as he is now a drug addict.

That's my only major complaint, but it does bother me a lot. Why would Lurhmann go out of his way and take up precious time to actively make the story worse, instead of just cutting the drug scene out and keeping Nick as a strong, relaible voice of truth, thus strengthening the narrative and message?

Die Hard 4 is the second best of the series. Everyone shits on it but it is closer to the original than the others. All the action moves are unique, the setting fights stakes are higher without making John mcclane into an unstoppable badass like in the 5th movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Harry Osborn was utterly shit.
I enjoyed nearly everything else about this movie (besides a few shitty moments like Foxx's tooth gap closing when he gets shocked).
Great music, great performances from Garfield, Stone and Foxx.

And I still maintain that the opening ten and final five minutes were absolutely fantastic.
The first ten minutes feels more like comic Spider-Man than any other ten-minute stretch from any of the other films.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfV-0Yv5vNY

And the last five was the only time since Christopher Reeve's Superman rescuing a cat out of a tree that we've seen such a nice moment between a superhero and a child who looks up to him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02S6ucfp1sU

I feel the same way about one of my favorites too, Howard the Duck.

It's crazy, surreal, weird, and an absolutely ABYSMAL adaptation of the comic it's based on (which is unironically one of Marvel's best), but I never fail to find enjoyment in it whenever I watch it.

The effects and music are great and still hold up, the music is awesome, the performances are fun, overall it's an entertaining romp ESPECIALLY if you've never seen it before.

However, it's super common to shit on the movie even if you've never seen it just because of it's horrible reputation. Especially for younger kids on the internet who take the words of people like Douge Walker as gospel.

It really is. And when you watch it back to back with 2001, it is the most staggering proof of Kubrick's genius I've ever seen.

Peter Hyams wrote and directed a very good movie, but right after 2001 it feels like a TV commercial director's behind the camera. Every shot is just noticeably inferior.
