This is the kind of thing that disturbs me the most after their departure from the books. This was the worst possible way to arrange Blackfish's death. He basically played no role whatsoever in the series and totally could've been played by an extra. He did nothing in earlier seasons, he did nothing this season (although I admit I really liked his scene with Jaime), and now he's dead.
Why are they trying to keep the number of named characters so low? It's okay to assume that the audience is dumb but there were huge amounts of characters mattered in earlier seasons, why give up that, it worked so far?
