Hollywood Has a Big Problem: 2016 is on pace to be the worst year for movies—by tickets bought per U.S. adult—since before the 1920s.

What's going on?

They kept boasting about how much money they made last year and now apes are "stickin it to the man"
>>
>>70778568
too much capeshit
>>
Well, the volume of movies has increased but people's disposable income has decreased. This is not really even a cultural issue.
>>
>>70778568
TV is hilariously enough BTFO film.
It's easy to watch from home whenever you want.

Because white people STILL HAVE NOT LEARNED THAT THEY ARE EVIL!!!
Once they do, sales should go back to normal.

I stopped going to the movies when tickets started selling for $16 dollars or more

maybe they should start there

Theater experience is way too low in general.

>Seats wear out
>Commercials are about 10 minutes
>Trailers repeat too much, why can't we get some indie sprinkled in there?
>Snowflake Generation (12-23) AND Gen X women (40+) are both insanely rude and selfish and makes going to movies a disgusting chore oftentimes as you have to get through seat kicking, talking to screen all movie long, cell phones, loud chewing, burrito wrapper noises
>Technology and access has exploded, 50" TV and high speed internet = movies for days
>Finally, quality of films is very low and boring, Hollywood got lazy AF and deservedly so has paid the price, admittedly Hwood had to do predictable things to make money predictably because budget inflation got retarded
>>
Economic corruption in Hollywood is increasing while the quality of movies being made are decreasing.

There's so much fucking corruption as far as where money goes in Hollywood that movies now need to make 25 million dollars OVER their production-budget to even start to break even.

They're doing this at a time when Hollywood is getting lazier and lazier with how they make movies and what movies get greenlit.

Sony is a microcosm of this, if you need an endemic example.

This.

It used to be that movies had some kind of advantage over TV, i.e. more professional and talented writers, bigger budgets and better special effects.

While the quality of movies went down, the quality of TV went up, but the prices stayed the same.

Now we have TV shows like Game of Thrones and The Knick and The Man In The High Castle that look like movies, while we have movies like That's My Boy and Daddy's Home and Neighbors 2 that look worse than most TV shows, and are written worse as well.

Why spend $16 to see one terrible movie when you can spend that same amount of money to get three months of Netflix, and stay home while having access to a library of great shows you actually WANT to watch?
>>
Its too fucking expensive. Ticket prices keep going up, especially with imax and 3D. Not to mention the ridiculous food pricing. People have better access to other movies they can stay in and watch
>>
Tickets too expensive
Too much diversity/pc propaganda
Too much animated pixarshit; no adult is gonna watch that shit, except maybe the poor parent.
>>
I can't speak for others, but when I speak for myself: the reason I don't buy tickets to or even think about going to the cinema is because the movies are shit.

And they have been shit for more than a decade. Some people may feel good about choosing between Ice Age 8, Iron Man 12, Batman 93..., but I find it lazy, boring, and not worth money.

IMAX and 3D are such a shitty meme. Tickets in Los Angeles, one of the most expensive cities in the US, are $6.50 at a decent screen.

The movies just suck right now. Look at your local big name theaters current line up of movies. I honestly don't have any interest in a single one of them.

Some of my friends like the superhero stuff but it is just so uninteresting to me that I can't spend the money on those shit cash grab movies.

Why is this getting no responses? It's fucking true without any politics involved.

Prices are going up and wages aren't rising fast enough. Theaters are going to be the first to feel it, then concerts, sports, hell amusement parks have been expensive for years now.

We should have listened.

Studios know that foreign box office is more important than getting adult americans.
>>
>Iron Man 3 grossed $409 million in North America and $806.4 million in other countries for a worldwide total of $1.2 billion.
>Avengers: Age of Ultron grossed $459 million in North America and $946 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $1.405 billion
>Pacific Rim grossed $101.8 million in North America, and has had a favorable international release, grossing $309.2 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $411,002,906.
>Frozen earned $400.7 million in North America, and an estimated $873.5 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of $1.274 billion

Foreign gross is usually twice as much as America for box office. Yes, studios get less of a percentage, but they're developing the market for future sequels and tie ins.

TV is now a writer's medium:

>Sorkin (WW, The Newsroom)
>Noah Hawley (Fargo)
>Pizzman (True Detective)
>David Chase
>Vince Gilligan
>Damon Lindelof
>weiner

And we have shows like

>The Americans
>The Leftovers
>The Knick

etc. I don't even bother with Hollywood anymore. TV is prestigious now.
>>
>>70785581
We don't have any classically beautiful film stars anymore but I think Elizabeth Olsen, Mary Winstead, and Brie Larson are pretty cute.

Probably the hottest woman I can remember is Lea Seydoux in Spectre but one thing that happened was that movies got feminized so you aren't allowed to objectify women any more so we didn't get any erotic scenes that really captured her sexuality. Missed opportunity to get her in lingerie or a bikini.
>>
>>70785581
Monica Belluci is fucking gorgeous. Don't even come at me with that shit. The rest you're right though.

It's crazy watching films from the 70s-80s-90s where the women are bombshells. ie Sharon stone in total recall.

Out of this world beauty used to be celebrated but now Hollywood shys away from it, or down plays a women's beauty.

It's the singles policy

>go to the local kinó théatre
>buy crab legs, popcorn, and a propeller hat
>go to my seat and notice girls and a chad are giggling at me
>overhear the chad saying "look at this virgin" >girls laugh even harder
>finally can't take it anymore
>politely ask him to stop being such a meany
>he pulls down my pants and shows everyone my pee pee
>I turn red with anger but try to carry on watching anyway
>he then reports me to the security guard for being single
>the security guard throws me and my remaining snacks in the trash and escorts me out
>while I'm roaming the streets covered in trash I realize my propeller hat is gone

All this just to watch a movie

Movies got too expensive. We are at a point where most blockbusters needs to make 500-600 million $ to even break even.

Make it cheaper to go to the theater. People only go because it is a cultural tradition not because it makes sense. There is absolutely no reason other than a chance to get seen and make money for a movie to be shown in a limited release theatrical run

It used to be that way because

1. Not everyone owned TVs
2. DVDs and VHS didn't exist

Wages can't rise because the labor market is in competition with Mexicans, Indians and Chinese who will work for fraction of the US living wage.

>60 cents of every dollar spent on 'advertising', up from 20 cents.

The Jews have found a great way to funnel money out of movie studios. I'm also very surprised that limitless nepotism would lead to an industry devoid of talent and creativity.

>Marlel almost destroyed the comic industry in the 90s and then went Bankrupt (only to be bailed out by Fox and Sony)
>Marlel is now destroying the movie industry and will hopefully cause the destruction of the Mouse's Empire.

I'll be the happiest man alive if this happens. Hopefully that'll put an end to all the "Give the rights back" type of comments on Facebook.

/tv/ might think its a meme but this is exactly what I do.

TMNT didnt make much because the writers listened to comic book fans instead of their own guts telling them that this is a stupid plot
>>
Maybe if they started making good movies instead of Transformers 7, people would pay to go see them.

You'd think that with all the talent and money they have they'd be able to make something that's not dogshit.

Is it the jewish nepotism that's bogging down the industry? Maybe just giving out jobs to any jew who walks into your office isn't the key to quality movies.
>>

Why didn't they listen. You could have stopped capeshit.

I consider myself a casual but I go to the cinema easily more than whatever the average is. Movies are just crap these days.

>xmen
>warcraft
>high rise
>the previous bond film

All shit. I feel sorry for casuals who expected anything good.

I seriously think that directors and actors and cinematographers are all a meme. I think writers aren't, and I think hollywood treats them as trash.

I don't think directors, actors, and cinematographers are always a meme, but Hollywood has made them one

Speak for yourself you pov cunt, movies have been complete shit and are getting worse as we push for diversity.

Haven't seen the cartoon. The nerds behind me kept cheering at stuff I didn't get. Amell's "acting" was extremely poor. The main villain was a brain attached to a robot cocoon.

That was Krang from the 80's cartoon right. You really never saw any of the episodes? That show was huge from the late 80's to early 90's.

maybe for your small group of autistic racist neo nazis this is a problem. but it's not even close enough of a reason why we have a problem.
