Which is better: French cinema or Italian cinema?

Italian cinema has historically been more innovative imo, especially when it comes to drama, thrillers and horror.
But French one is better made

Italian cinema is by far superior and it's also less pretentious.

this
neorealism is probably the only early film movement I can unironically enjoy without this whole "good for it's age" attitude
French cinema, despite some really good movies, brought us the french new wave which maybe would be a nice movement if led by trauffaut without that fucking pretentious idiot godard.
Also french comedy is the worst kind of non-experimental film I have ever encountered
Italian since it brought us cinema paradiso

Martyrs > all Italian horror cinema
Italian
Wogs > Frogs

French directors are by a LARGE margin the most overrated of any nationality
Breathless is boring, pretentious garbage and I honestly felt rused while watching it

As said, more innovative than French cinema. There isn't really anything new about martyrs. Good film, sure.
Like Italien better, they seem a bit more down to earth

French everything is overrated.
>ouioui language au love
>city of lights
>smelly shit cheese and bread dildos
Paris and by extension France somehow being paradise on Earth is a meme that goes back to the renaissance.
The French make pretty good short films

The sad but funny thing is that no one hates France like French people.
It's a well shared meme among us to joke about how ridiculously bad, repetitive and predictable our cinema is, for instance - though if there is a great movie we make, we'll go to see it several times with buddies.
We get shit on by foreigners for coming across as pretentious while in truth the outside world just doesn't know we share their view most of the time. We just don't like being insulted as a people for it.
French music and French movies are not that good, and we certainly don't see our language as the one of love and romance. That's an anglo meme.
