moneyball set the atmosphere perfectly and was paced well: to capture the desperation and exasperation of the protagonist.
of course it's not a glitze exciting drama about a sportsperson. it's about the problems of a coach. the movie was done extremely well desu.

birdman isn't pretentious. it isn't trying to be deep or meaningful. It's pretty simple in its depiction of the life of a person trying to reinvent himself through theater. the film was shot really well and never gave off the impression as if it was an avant garde piece of work. it was just a good film shot well.

Actually did fall asleep for this one, halfway through. Walked into my roommates watching it one night, saw the second half. Thoroughly enjoyed the ending and beginning, but the middle is a bit of a drag.
