Well my first one was his last, The sacrifice. I don't regret having started with it. It was probably the first art film I watched in my life.

I recommend Stalker. It's easily the most approachable. You can watch it in multiple ways without being completely overwhelmed by some of the more complicated themes of Tarkovsky's other films. I'd recommend watching it again after seeing his other films. It's the first one I started with. I saw it about 6 years ago and it allowed me to be able to research and appreciate other films I would have normally ignored.
