>There will never be a proper Spawn movie
life is truly suffering
>>70720062
yep
>>70720062
watching the animated series right now
Spawn is super frustrating as a main character. Such a whiny passive fuck
It's not as if Spawn was ever good in any iteration. Even the show, which was better than the comic, was just decent
Spawn is fucking trash
>>70720062
Spawn 1997 is true capekino. Anyone who disagree is a retard.

>It's not as if Spawn was ever good in any iteration
>implying the toy figures weren't the coolest shit
>>70720301
makes me realize how much deadpool is just a spawn rip-off
>>70720062
Probably for the best. He's a product of the 90s
>>70720357
Pretty sure Deadpool is older
>>70720062
Spawn sucks, who cares.
>>70720354
>>implying the toy figures weren't the coolest shit
McFarlane a shit.
t. /toy/
>>70720650
I thought both characters are in their mid thirties
>>70721433
In creation. Deadpool was created like a year before
>>70720062
McFarlane literally just finished a screenplay for a Spawn movie, maybe with the success of Deadpool it will get picked up.
Then again while he is a great artist he's a terrible storyteller, so it'll likely need a rewrite or two

I really felt that with the Spawn series. The story just would not start, Spawn never does shit, and everything is just so cynical and edgy. So much time is spent on proving "This ain't your DADDY's cartoon" and not developing an engaging story or characters. the mythos and aesthetic is fun tho

The only thing that will never change is the edginess. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it needs to be carefully controlled to avoid Liefeld moments.
For example, if the Nic Cage Ghost Rider films were edgy as fuck, they'd at least be funny to watch. They have nothing in them worth watching for as they are.

I agree. I just wonder what McFarlane's intentions are. Don't know a lot about him or comics in general, but if it's taken too seriously without the writing to back it up, then it just feels lame. didn't sense much tongue-in-cheekiness with the animated series and the strange McFarlane intros lol
