I disagree with High Rise being pleb filter. Sure, it looked great but there are a lot of legitimate issues, in particular with the pacing.
>>
>>70687077
Elaborate. I found it was pretty well paced in general. The descent into anarchy was gradual enough without being too drawn out. The opening did enough to introduce some people.

It's a lot like the book anon. All the major beats are there and the pacing/tone is fairly close to the original.
>>
one of the most pretentious movies I've seen
>>
>>70687469
strongly agree
>>
>>70686847

Best movie I've seen in years. I think a lot of critics missed the humor and took it all too seriously. It's like a Monty Python sketch that goes way, way out of hand
>>
Do you mean pleb bait like everything else this imdb graduate pandering hack has done, /v/?
>>70686923
looks like yes for the rest of this thread too lmao
>>
>>70687391
I wish it ended like the book though.
The whole "lights going out in the other buildings" thing.

Heres the real one for authentic /tv/ posters
>>
>>70687535
They hinted at it with Laing's monologue though. His plan was to wait until the same fate came to the other buildings.
>>
>>70687535

It does. He talks about "waiting for Failure to reach the other buildings" in the closing voiceover
>>
>>70687576
Yeah I know, but I thought the whole radio speech at the end was kinda hamfisted.
>>
>>70686847
fuck that's such a good shot
>>
>>70687618

Not gonna disagree with you on that one
>>
>>70686923
lol
>>
>>70687627

say what you will about the writing, but the sets/costumes/cinematography/editing/soundtrack are completely perfect. Ben Wheatley really took a step up with this one

There's some amazing shots. I wish somebody would make one of those mosaics.

>that shot where Wilder is floating in the pool
>when Laing gets stuck in the private lift with all the mirrors
>the kaleidoscope sequence
>>
>>70687627
There are tons of stunning shots in this film. Honestly, I probably could have watched High Rise on mute - and I probably would have liked the movie better that way.
>>
>>70686847
what a shittty fucking movie
>>
>no lipstick tribal marks all over him
I mean it was a good movie but I was a bit disappointed.
>>
>>70687627
pleb as fuck

This.

I thought it was fucking hilarious when they sent the thug to go slaughter the horse with a cheese knife.
>>
>>70686847

I've seen this four times now, and I find more to like every time I see it. There's just so much going on in little throwaway moments and background action, so many weird little patterns and symmetries in the shooting/editing style. The attention to detail is ridiculous. This is one of those films that's just working on another level.

Doesn't seem to have many fans right now, but I'm betting this movie will really build a reputation over the next few years. First real masterpiece I've seen in some time.

but yeah, adding the Thatcher quote at the end was an eye-roller
>>
>>70686847

is there a decent rip out for High-Rise yet?
>>
>>70687970

There must be, it's been available on streaming sites for like a month
>>
>>70687569
good poster, shame the remake was shit
>>
>>70687534
You make it seem like this show is a mainstream success. It talks about fine art and food none stop. I don't really understand the hate... unless... oh pleb filtered. Gotcha.

Huh, really makes you think...
>>
>>70686847
IGN awarded it a score of 7.0 out of 10, saying "Enjoyably dark and disturbing adaptation of one of J.G. Ballard's best."
