is even badder
>>
It was fine. Just don't expect a masterpiece.
It's pretty much exactly what you'd expect from Half in the Bag intro/outros in terms of humor, acting, and intentionally low production value.
>>
love RLM but yeah, it sucked. it's just boring.

what?
>>

Cheap costumes and sets, visible strings on puppets, etc.
I mean it's slightly above their normal web content, but it's intentionally cheap looking.

Absolutely love RLM, I have a signed poster from before they were cool.

This movie was pretty boring, I only made it 2/3 of the way through. It completely lacks the gang's natural humour.
>>
Space Cop was genuinely fucking awful. Me and my friends sat down to watch it and lo and behold I don't think I heard a single laughter let alone chuckle throughout. It was just so boring. Either the jokes dragged on for way too long, or they made no sense (in the mediocre way).

I am fucking glad I didn't buy it now. Jesus, what a mess. And I love their other content usually, although they should stop having shitty guests on their shows.
>>
it was a lot fun if you're into the type of comedy of rlm. probably wont get them any new fans but I had fun with it.

About 70-80% of the jokes in the film are recycled from their old material.

It's not intentionally low, as in they had a gazillion dollars laying around and decided to do something as cheaply as possible just for the fuck of it. They've said many times that they tried to do the best they could with what limited budget they had. When you compare Space Cop to the stinking pile of shit that Linkara produced for 60k you'll start to appreciate the work they put into it more.

I don think it's an excuse, you just need some perspective. They made the film they wanted to make but like with any film, especially a film of such a low budget, they had to make compromises. They still made a better job than most people would've with what they had.

>less than no excuses when they're famous for shitting all over other movies
Did you forget the part where they love watching schlock just as much as they love shitting on it? One of Jay's favorite films is Samurai Cop!

I think the problem stems from people going into this expecting something at the level of Captain America: Civil Warâ„¢ or some 200+ million dollar production when it is essentially no different than the shit they are famous for (plinkett, half in the bag skits, feeding frenzy, etc). Same thing happened with the AVGN movie; a bunch of whiny kids, who by the way know absolutely nothing about film production, got upset because the film didn't pass their quality control. Don't forget these films are primarily made for the fans.
>>
>>70672177
Yet it had none of the warmth or feel of their other comedy skits. It didn't sound or seem natural at all.

someone post the thing Jay wrote on their forum.

It's not like they intentionally went for a low budget type movie. They had no choice. It was put together over several years due and they barely had any resources.
>>
>>70675846
>I think the problem stems from people going into this expecting something at the level of Captain America: Civil Warâ„¢ or some 200+ million dollar production

I just wanted them to genuinely try hard at something for once in their lives, rather than going down the easy deliberately bad acting and special effects route. Kung Fury was made on as similar budget and didn't look like a 12 year old made it in 1995.
>>
I couldn't get through it without their audio commentary on.

The film itself is shit and only interesting when you have Mike and Jay discuss making it. Its not funny.

To think they did this rather than make more Plinkett reviews during those years. What a waste.

RLM needs to stick with what they do best, being movie critics with sardonic humor. Get rid of Previously Recorded too. Its shit.
>>
>>70677416
Kung Fury is without the shadow of a doubt the worst piece of shit I have ever seen.
>>
>>70673577

>>70677681
They're dependent on donations from their fanbase to sustain themselves. Do you really think they're not going to discuss what gets posted on reddit or facebook groups dedicated to their shows?
Were you dropped as a child? This is basic consumer analysis.
>>
>>70678142
Mike and Jay have never shown any signs of giving a shit about their fanbase. It's one of their best qualities.
>>
>>70678200
This. You'll never see Mike and Jay begging for tips on a livestream and then doing whatever their donor demands them to as a result.
>>
>>70678112

Correct. They said a portion of their Youtube money goes to pay for the privilege of using RLM's studio and camera to film.

The only money they don't owe to Mike and Jay are from the Twitch subscriber and donation cash.

I think its a dick move of Mike to charge his co-workers to use their stuff when they're not even there, but Rich is an asshole so its justified.
>>
It was like they were trying to make anti-humour to make you laugh as little as possible up until Mike shows up.

Seriously, what the fuck was with that fridge """""""""gag""""""""?
>>
>>70678308
>I think its a dick move of Mike to charge his co-workers to use their stuff when they're not even there
The only reason Jack and Rich have a studio to stream in is because of Mike and Jay. The only reason anyone even knows what Pre Rec is is because of it's association with RLM. And do you think electricity pays for itself? There's nothing dick-ish about it.
>>
>>70678200
They literally spent the first few minutes of re:view episode 1 reassuring the fanbase like 2 weeks ago.
>>
>>70678385
That's not the same thing as what I'm talking about. Like, at all.

If they really wanted to pander to their fanbase, they would have made a ton of Plinkett reviews int he last few years. They do what they want, when they want.
>>
>>70678353

On more than one occasion Jack has said RLM doesn't pay him. Rich is so poor from his RLM money that he begs for PC part money donations and ignores toothaches due to not having money for dentristry.

Mike could throw these guys a bone, but Rich sucks so much I agree with charging them for everything.
>>
>>70678446
>Rich is so poor from his RLM money that he begs for PC part money donations and ignores toothaches due to not having money for dentristry
Did it ever occur to you that maybe Rich is just really bad with handling his money? You can tell by his whole demeanor that he's a lazy slob that doesn't know anything about the world. He didn't even know that you shouldn't drink soda to rehydrate until Jay pointed it out to him.

>Rich sucks so much I agree with charging them for everything.
They're not charging them anything. They're taking a cut of profit, which makes sense considering they're using RLM's name to get their own side projection attention and the only reason they're even able to do that is because Mike and Jay have allowed them to use the space and the resources that they have.

You're either a simpleton or you're too young to understand how the world works.

>>
>>70670546
It was sold direct to their fanbase and has a 5.4/10 on IMDB. God knows how badly it'd go down with people who weren't predisposed to like the creators.

It's just a standard piece of sub-film student shit where people who don't know what they're doing put the least amount of effort possible into a movie and then fall back on "Oh, but it was a PARODY, you see" to deflect criticism. The irony is that this is identical to Lucas' "It's stylistically designed to be that way" excuse, only Lucas at least managed to pull off something that resembled a 1930's space opera, whereas RLM can't even convincingly recreate low-budget schlock. Think about how much of a fucking failure that is.

RLM are not special, insightful or remotely talented. You could grab any three random self-styled "bad movie" fans in their late 30's, sit them in a studio and produce something identical to Half in the Bag. There's a level of technical competence to it that random guys with webcams don't have (because they didn't go to film school, not because it's actually beyond them), but that's it. You could head to any random nerd forum and see the exact same points being made about why such-and-such sucked. All they have going for them is the "friend simulator" thing, because, yeah, it is exactly like being stuck in a basement with a bunch of nitpicking manchildren. Grats. What an achievement.

Imagine being Mike.
Watching all of your film school friends fail and accept soul-crushing 9-to-5s.
Imagine finding decent success in a job where you get to be with your buddies, be your own boss, and watch movies. Developing an actual fanbase that will remember you when you're gone and leaving a small artistic impact on the world, but not reaching a celeb status that would have a negative effect on your life.

How terrible.
>>
>>70670546
It's even worse. And I usually like RLM.
>>
>>70682162

>>
>>70680748

>>
>>70682195
Yeah, but that logic can be applied relatively. Every time RLM criticizes a film you can just go, ''Well, what have you achieved? You made a shitty terrible movie!''

It's a stupid thing to say because a) you're not actually addressing any of the criticisms that were made, b) you don't need to be a chef in order to criticize someone's food, and c) you can apply this ''argument'' to anyone in some degree.
>>
>>70682195
