One of my favourite superhero movies.
I would give the Director's Cut a 9.5/10 as a movie, but an 8/10 as an adaptation of the comic.

It was just so dull and dry. There was a scene where Rorscach broke into Nightowl's apartment and you think to yourself "OMG Yes! This is where they start quiping I'm gonna make so many tumblr gifs of this!". But then they just start talking to advance the plot it was just so lame and boring. They didn't even mention Youtube or Facebook once.

The Superman movies sucked but I thought Watchmen was pretty good. It's probably the only Snyder movie I like. Then again, I'm not going into capeshit expecting much so if I was mildly entertained it gets a pass. The entire genre has such a low bar.

It works fine within the context of the movie... but it has absolutely no punch compared to your pic related in the comic.
Imagine just a series of wide static shots showing all of the bloody corpses strewn about in NYC beneath that tentacled behemoth. Would be powerful as fuck.
I think the Dr. Manhatty version works fine... but fine is not enough when the original scene in the comic is so freaking incredible. Snyder whiffed on that one. The rest of the movie is so fucking fantastic though... I'd give it 8/10
