Most underrated Trek thing. Yes the uniforms suck, yes the VFX shots go on forever, but goddamn it, it's fucking hardcore Trek.
Also the VFX shots are fucking amazing so who cares if they go for 15 minutes at a time?

They even look pretty good on blu ray, except a couple of fake windows in the shuttlecraft scene at the start. It's in the top 3 for me easily.

Finish watching TOS if you haven't already finished. Move on to TNG after TOS, and start DS9 during the sixth season of TNG.

TOS starts great but ends up mediocre. TNG and DS9 start mediocre but end up great.

Movies are for normies. Come be a television-loving broccoli like us.

That is a classic Star Trek episode which probably doesnt get talked about enough. Two of mine that enjoy and dont see mentioned all that much are The Most Toys and Starship Mine. Saul Rubinek was great as Kivas Fajo, but its a shame David Rappaport killed himself as he would have been cool in that role.

-Yesterdays Enterprise
-The offspring
- sins of the father
-Allegiance
-Tin Man

The thing is I dont trust myself anymore in regard to tng.
ive got such a soft spot for it, its what i watch when i come home from work, its the trek i grew up with, i can watch almost every episode because i enjoy the characters so much and all their idotic little idiosyncrasies...
but you know everyones favourite episode to hate, the one with cruhsers grandmas ghost lover - i watched the shit out that growing up and I rewatched it recently and just made me laugh for nearly 10 minutes straight - it made me realise as iconic as tos is for the 60s, as iconic tng is for the 80s
it perfectly captures everything good and bad about those time periods and puts it into these comfy little snippets for one tobe delighted by...
except pulaski, fuck that shit

Voyager Season 3 Episode 14
"Alter Ego"

Kim falls in love with a particularly enchanting holographic character in the tropical simulation the crew is using all the time. He ask Tuvok for help controlling his emotions but ends up getting jealous when he believes Tuvok is trying to have the hologram for himself. It turns out the hologram is being remotely controlled all along by an alien hacking into their computer systems. The alien is isolated and alone, and uses Voyager's holodecks for entertainment and social interaction. The alien turns out also to be in love with Tuvok and tries kidnap him but lets him go in the end because she loves him and she realizes that if you love something you have to set it free.

You seem to think that the concept is something new. You just had to catfish different ways back before dating apps, sonny.

Watch that Simpsons episode where Bart woos his teacher with a picture of Gordie Howe.
>>
>>70662550
You seem to be wrong about me.
Obviously catfishing would have to be an established phenomenon prior to the movie being named after it, and probably established as a phenomenon before it was named catfishing.

I'm just surprised it was around in 1997, though I suppose pretending to me someone else was a concept nearly as soon as the first chat room or message board.

But I'm glad you could throw around you age and assert how young, and therefore unknowledgeable I am.

I didn't realize the episode where Bart becomes "Woodrow" was in 1992, probably because of how much re-run Simpsons I watched growing up. It really scrambles the order around.

You're an asshole, sorry for being 25.

Most of what you see on the web today has been around for almost 30 years, at least conceptually.

The ideas for what Google and Facebook do today sort of started in the mid to late 1990s.

>STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE actress Jolene Blalock has strong words about her character and the hierarchy of her show in the new issue of the UK's SFX Magazine. Blalock says she was extremely unhappy with much of her character's direction in season three.

>"You can't substitute tits and ass for good storytelling," she says bluntly. "You can have both, but you can't substitute one for the other, because the audience is not stupid. You can't just throw in frivolous, uncharacteristic... well, bull and think it's gonna help the ratings!"

>The magazine characterizes her feelings about a potential future for show as decidedly cold and asked her why a change like elevating Manny Coto to head of the writing staff wasn't done earlier. Blalock is not kind.

>"You have this head guy who's some kind of ancient old croaker with no concept of the real world outside, with his fine wine and his, er, crumpets. And what are ya gonna tell them? 'Give it up'? 'Go home, be with your wife, go play golf'? No - then ya got no job! A powerful job is your identity. Give that up, and who are you? What the hell are you gonna do with all that time? Oh man, that ghost-lover episode was a riot.

>Braga noted the show was not popular among who he dubbed "hard-core fans". "I've come to notice that whenever you infuse a show with sexual themes, some of these fans seem to short-circuit. I mean, the weather array malfunction causing thunderstorms – it was fun!" (Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion)

>Braga commented, "It was the best performance I've ever seen. I just thought she did a wonderful job. Picard catches Beverly masturbating for crying out loud! What a tough role to play. When I was writing the words, 'She writhes around in the bed having invisible sex,' I just thought, 'Oh man, we're asking for trouble. Are they gonna be able to pull this off?' Thanks to [director] Jonathan Frakes and Gates, it was not hokey. It was very good. Look, I scripted the first orgasm in "The Game". This was mild by comparison. Sure it was racy. Even Rick Berman had said, 'I can't believe we're doing this.' I think they trimmed quite a bit out of the writhing sequences." (Captains' Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages)

>Frakes opined, "I drew a good straw because it wasn't a Star Trek. It was more like Tales from the Crypt. Gates and I have worked well together and she was never better than in 'Sub Rosa' and never looked more beautiful. She looked like a movie star." (Captains' Logs: The Unauthorized Complete Trek Voyages)

>At an Austin, Texas convention in 2012, Gates McFadden stated she wasn't very fond of this episode. "I was basically in love with a lamp! This woman is a doctor and falls in love with a lamp! How the hell does that work?"

>Rick Berman's first choice for the role of Sisko was actor Avery Brooks. The two had met many years earlier when the then-struggling young actor rented a room in Berman’s family apartment, and Brooks' often terrifying and deranged antics during the three months he lived there left a lasting impression on the executive. Years later, Berman remembered the volatile actor and knew that he was the only possible man who could play the mad Sisko, and he sent Brooks a copy of the script. "Between three and four in the morning, the phone rang," Berman recalled. "It took me at least a couple of minutes before I realized who was the source of this inarticulate screaming. And after an hour of this, it dawned on me that he found it the most fascinating script and wanted to be The Emissary."

>From the beginning of the production on the pilot episode, writer Michael Piller and Brooks argued about the proper manner to portray Sisko. Brooks wanted to play a "wild, ranting madman", but Piller wanted something "quieter, more menacing". In order to get the performance he desired, before each shot director David Carson would deliberately infuriate him. After waiting for the hot-tempered actor's inevitable tantrum to "burn itself out", Carson would then roll the camera.

>Even the director wasn't safe from his twisted vision. "One time I yelled 'cut' and he turned to me and said 'What if someone just stood in the middle of the Promenade and yelled cut? Maybe the Ferengi in suits would forget their trained routine of acquiring' My jaw hit the floor and it never really came back up. That's when I thought, is he getting in character to play Sisko, or is Sisko something that's been in him all along?"

>"Sometimes i would go to look into the cameras, and I noticed he had put something in the lens. It was stuff like 'What if cameras were phasers? Would you be a mass murderer?' and 'Lights. Camera. BASEBALL!.' I had to ask him to stop because I was getting too scared to direct."

It's literally from Herzog's "My best fiend" with and about Klaus Kinski. The pasta itself is about his role as Aguirre in Aguirre Wrath of God.
