Not really, CW shows do a good job of catching you up in their cold openings, besides they already said Supergirl takes place in an alt universe from the Arrow/LoT/Flash characters, so it's not really a merge.
trust me, you'll just make yourself angry, but if you have to watch the Flash/Supergirl crossover episode which is episode 18it's kind of shit though, pic related

This show is pretty much "don't sweat the details", like that ame episode, the bad guys are broadcasting a mind control device that enslaves human beings but kryptonians are unaffected, but Superman is affected because lol he thinks like a human since he spent so much time on Earth, then when that is eventually turned off he's put in a coma so he doesn't impact the story.
I don't know why ANYONE would want to try out to play him in Supergirl because he is just going to be a huge joke/jobber.
