I honestly can't remember how I got into the only one I currently use but previous ones that I squandered were given to me by people that I once befriended on the internet. They just randomly asked me if I wanted some invites and so I signed up. I guess you could always buy your way in but that seems a little risky.
There's little point in joining most trackers if you don't have the means to seed torrents at a decent speed for however long it takes to attain a ratio of 1 or more.

ive been part of maybe 4 sites in my life, and ive gotten less than 5 invites on all combined, i was invited by shady RL friends every time
one of them has a sort of donate for invites policy, so if you know a guy you can buy one from him, if you want an invite without paying you probably have to get in early, which means you have to have mutual friends with someone who decided to start a private tracker, in other words you need nerdy friends (watching got and playing wow doesnt make you nerd anymore)
