if you haven't seen any of those you're just as pleb as the site.

The skip implies you haven't seen it though, and it will be in the matches. A neutral rating says you've seen it but don't care to rate it.

kurosawa is my favorite director but i think this thing (the users?) likes him a little too much..

which is funny considering half of his movies aren't even on there.

i also lol'd at tokyo story being literally the only ozu. think i only saw like 1 or 2 mizoguchi as well.

completely missing a lot of subtle non-classics from the early-mid 20th century, only like 20 bollywood movies, doesnt seem to care for much euro arthouse beyond the fnw, almost no tv movies, yet theres a fucking truckload of terrible recent movies.

im not even quite mid-level and this thing makes me feel almost patrician. a fun waste of 6 hours but that database has a lot of work to do.

>>70575579

>>
>>70575704
to be fair tho it is a good start and if it keeps expanding in both titles and users (and some format/search quirks) i can see how it could become very useful

it kind of already is

my recommendation to the guy running it would be to go by director and add literally everything; once thats done, any oversights will then become more glaring and draw a narrower focus, and as those get knocked off it'll be in a better spot than continuing this current seemingly popular/recency bias approach

Empire Strikes Back is the only Star Wars film you need to see. It's very good.
>>
>>70590090
it's already one of my favorite movies [/spoilers]
>>
>>70590037
Rashomon is one of the best films ever made and Inside Llewyn Davis is one of the better films of this decade so far
>>
>>70589051
Night of the Hunter is pretty cool. It's the only film Charles Laughton ever directed. I watched it recently and it's aged fairly well.
>>

>>
>>70584884
Jodo has some really weird shit but it's also super cool, The Holy Mountain was actually recommended to me on here once, but I have yet to watch it.

Calvary is fucking awesome, it's written by the brother of the guy who wrote In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths. Those McDonagh brothers are really fucking good writers.
