Every cunt and their mom loves to say this, but don't get too excited. Saying EH is a prequel to 40k is like saying a needle in your mome's vagina is a prologue for my dick.

The scope is way too tiny to be a prequel to something as massive as 40k.

Gravity is a fine film, an 8/10. Arguably better the bigger the screen is. For whatever reasons, it's a film that creates a hateboner on a lot of plebs. Might be the mix of mainstream success, the general autism of the board and a predisposition to dislike woman-led films without thought.

But Crichton is just plain retarded. Its like discovering the book you're reading was written by a mongloid idiot who likes to eat his own shit. Makes the work seem a lot less intelligent doesnt it?

Cloony has zero emotional range, Bullock has too much emotional range. Neither works in a movie like Gravity. You replace them and not advertise it as a blockbuster and it instantly becomes good.

Not to shit in your tea, but everyone was "racist" back then. Lovecraft wasn't special or an asshole for it. You don't have to forgive him, you only have to realise you were born in a sheltered environment with politically correct ideologies that don't relate to reality anymore.

>Not poster, but he was even more racist than the times he lived. His racism was 19th century style racism.

Nothing wrong with that, though. Absolutely every race is racist and always was. White people like you are the only ones to act nonracist, and you always do so in the most racist of ways: treating blacks like children and trying to excuse everything they do, putting racial differences in the law, etc.

I'm black and I much prefer Lovecraft's racism to today's bullshit "antiracism" that is far more insulting to any nonwhite with some pride and self-respect.

What I don't understand from murricans is, when something goes down in quality, they just cancell it. One bad season, one bad sequel, one bad game, cancel everything!!! Instead of fixing.

Command and Conquer, Dead Space, etc. All shelved because of one bad game, yet these franchises themselves are priceless. Are suits that retarded they don't understand the value of their own IPs and how much compeititors wouldn't pay to get their franchise.

Its like throwing out your 1000 dollar laptop cause two out of four USB ports don't work it anymore. No you fix it you retard. Same with the shows and games, identifiy what went wrong and fix it. Its what the BBC does.

Fuck if Murricans had owned doctor who they'd have cancelled it 20 or more times already.

Story disappointed me. We were finally promised an origin story. After two games where the story kept conflicting with itself at an almost LOST level, we were promised some answers.

Instead of the origin of the markers as promised by the developers, instead it turns out this isnt in fact the marker homeworld and just another sidequest.

Fuck man, why not show us the marker homeworld already and where they come from? Why write a shitty sidequest story?

When, long ago, the gods created Earth
In Jove's fair image Man was shaped at birth.
The beasts for lesser parts were next designed;
Yet were they too remote from humankind.
To fill the gap, and join the rest to Man,
Th'Olympian host conceiv'd a clever plan.
A beast they wrought, in semi-human figure,
Filled it with vice, and called the thing a Nigger.

Sorry but that description fits a lot of generic horror

Lovecraftian is more when people discover how powless and insignificant they are in the face of the universe and time itself, especially when encountering powers far greater, incomprehensable and ancient than themselves.

http://lostmedia.wikia.com/wiki/Event_Horizon_(Unreleased_130_Minute_Cut)
>Initially, the film ran for at least 130 minutes. This cut contained far more graphic violence and gore than the released version of the film. When Anderson screened the film for Paramount, they were disturbed by how horribly gruesome it was. Anderson felt that they had not been given enough time in post-production to completely refine the cut, and it went before test audiences too early.[1] Consequently, the test audiences were equally upset with the gruesome content, and the negative reactions led to Paramount forcing Anderson to edit the film by 30 minutes, specifically the extremely grim material.

He responded "never", explaining that much of it is gone forever.[4] However, in a 2012 interview he announced that producer Lloyd Levin had found a VHS tape with his original rough cut. Anderson said that after finishing Resident Evil: Retribution, he planned to watch this rough cut for the first time since assembling the film.[13]

Orbital mechanics is very easy to learn, most of it is common sense.

For example, an integral plot point of the movie.
In the movie they were in a prograde orbit, and the debris hit them every 90 minutes as Clooney said.
90 minutes is the time it takes the ISS to make one orbit of the Earth.

If the debris was also in a prograde orbit, in order to approach the characters at the speed it did, it would have to either
A: Be in a highly elliptical orbit, which would take much longer than 90 minutes and most likely not intersect the characters more than once.
B: Be in a retrograde orbit, which would mean the debris would hit every 45 minutes, not every 90 minutes.

I think what made event horizon so scary was that the danger is from an unknown source, and the plot is realistically plausible if string theory is correct. Most critics didn't appreciate the film because they are dumb as fuck to good sci-fi.

>>
>>70536801

This is the exact response of someone who knows fuck all about cinema.

Die Hard is good because it's an extremely well made movie. It has characters you care about, it's well paced, it has great dialogue, the whole business.

I said not one single thing about the goal of the movie, the concept of Event Horizon is not what I am criticizing. It just managed to be an extremely sloppy film headed by a god-awful director.

If I can say one good thing about Event Horizon is the great set-design, but that really is it. The rest of the movie is a 5/10 at best, seriously stop playing yourself and rewatch it with objective eyes. It's not one of those lovable flawed gem movies like In the Mouth of Madness is, it's just a piece of shit.
