However, a large amount of people like producers and studio execs are not liberal. These are people who care only about none and running a business. The liberals and progressives often more vocal about issues than conservatives, thus these people assume that progressiveness is something people want to see in their movies or TV shows. Exploitation is not some moral word. No more than master/slave tells you something about driver configurations. It's just a term for an empirical phenomenon.
Exploitation is the the compensation of a worker for less than the total value they have produced. For example, a man in a factory makes $100 worth of steel pipes in an hour, but he is payed $60 despite the pipes being sold for $100. The extra $40 is pocketed as "profit" by a third party that claims legal legitimacy to do such via the state deceleration of "ownership" i.e. workers do not own what they make on or with "private property". Profit = total revenues - total expenses
It's important to note this because it means owners and workers have two diametrically opposed naturally selfish incentives. To maximize their welfare workers must demand as high a wage as possible to assure the richest life. To Maximize their welfare owners must depress worker wages (expenses) to assure the greatest profit ratio. Either path shits on the other's.
I'll give you a simple example. Outsourcing. Owners make profit from the final sale of what is produces so they can in theory switch out the human labor part to different lands without any disturbance to their personal revenues so long as them make up the difference in shipping costs with lower wage costs. For the workers that need a wage this is an utter disaster. Completely wiping out their livelihoods in America to be replaced with third world Chinese labor that has a much lower expectation of quality of life and therefore wage demands. For the owners it is an increase in their livelihoods via greater profits.
This is why the 1% very existence is a danger to everyone that is not them. They are naturally incentivized to be socially poisonous as they get their wealth from parasitism.
