Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
>$65,575,105 opening weekend

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
>$35,250,000 opening weekend

Whoops.
>>
But the sequel was a thousand times better

>reminder that Paramount had Marvel as their favorite cash cow.
>reminder that they let Disney buy it.
>>
Ok, here's my joke setting aside. >>70479231
>>
>>70479239
That's what happens when you fuck up round one.
>>
>>70479244
It made a ton more sense for Disney to buy Marvel than Paramount. Disney ultimately got a steal - but a major reason they were willing to pay a premium at the time is because they wanted a boy toy line to go with their princess line. It was as much about Spider-Man toys as MCU.
>>
Marketing is retarded. They wanted 30 year old nostalgia fags to watch this rather than gear it to a younger audience. All of Hollywood is pandering to the 30's crows it's quite annoying because they are not planning for the future.
>>
I hated the first one.

Out of Shadows wasn't too bad.
>>
>>70479462
Hollywood does remarkably little pandering to anyone over 30.
>>
>>70479311
i got it. didnt laugh though, but you tried.
>>
>>70479587
Yes let's pretend all the retarded remakes of 80's and 90's movies don't exist.
>>
>>70479462
>pandering

My theater even at a 9PM showing was 70% 7-13 y/os.

Nothing makes sense anymore.
>>
>>70479647

or that there isn't a currently running TMNT show on Nickelodeon.
>>
>>70479647
they are refit for a new audience though. they put the bare minimum amount of reference to bring in the older crowd.
>>
>>70479665
Mine was mostly old fags granted some brought kids but i t was mostly older people . It's why Krang was in it and Beehbop and Rocksteady they aren't relevant anymore.
>>
>>70479726
No they are brought in to cash in on nostalgia. Otherwise if they "refit" old concepts it wouldn't be a remake but an entirely new IP. Face of Hollywood much like gaming is pandering to older people more. This will kill both industries.
>>
>>70479732
All are present in the current running TMNT show........
>>
>>70479805
No, they're because remakes are easy to pitch, and people don't get fired for doing them even when they fail. Don't think there's any great smart strategy behind it.
>>
>>70479892
Those characters have more to do with their 80's incarnations then the modern ones..............................
>>
You guys know that Nickelodeon, who made these movies, also has a tmnt CGI show? These movies are for kids too
>>
>>70479943
Hes the strategy is let's take old peoples money by striking their nostalgia of an older project. Literally this is going on in the ghost busters movie with the trailer referencing the older characters despite them not existing in the new generation.
>>
>>70479960

Guyjust said they weren't relevant despite them being in the TV show, and Shredder and the Foot in the original TMNT movie were completely different to the 80s cartoon as well, so was Splinter's origin.

You're flip flopping around.
>>
>>70479971
Kids don't have money. 30 year olds who grew up on this crap do.
>>
So why did it flop guys?
>>
>>70480045
Not flip flopping they are essentially different characters. Do you even watch the cartoon? If you watch the modern one and the 80's one you can see they took inspiration from the 80's. You are way off.

When the sequel had topped at the box-office, all the turtles around them said, "Cowabummer."

>Kids don't have money
Their parents do

/tv/ NECKBEARDS ARE NOT THE MAIN TARGET AUDIENCE

More like anyone over 15 at this point
>>
>>70480147
Correct their 30 year old parents who grew up on it. And they didn't show up because overall the teenage mutant nigger turtles and their shit CGI isn't the same.

>despite the differences the similarities are there and recognizable to both young and old fans
>HURRRRRRRRRR DEY DIFFERENT
>>
>>70480319
>similarities
>completely different and referencing the 80's version

At least you tried.
>>
>>70479462

And they failed miserably. No one that liked the show or the movies from the 90 likes Bay's take on the movie. It was crap.

What baffles me is that there is actually a pretty good CGI series about the turtles airing that it's better than the 90 cartoon ever was.
>>
>>70479180
Nigger Turtles BTFO.
>>
Bring on the next reboot I'm ready.
>>
>>70479462
Well 30 yr olds have jobs+money and no curfew.
Plus the fact is the movie was trying to be like the old cartoon, so nostalgia fans can appreciate it for that and kids can like it too cause it's goofy fun.

Bummer though. Hopefully China helps this one out. I actually liked this movie
