I've been a warcraft fan for decades. I've played so many hours on World of Warcraft, it's like an obsession. This movie did the series a great justice. Brilliant acting/casting/setting/action. Just.. amazing. LOVED IT!
Ignore the rottentomatoes (or as I like to say, rottenshameatoes) ratings guys. It's awesome.
I know one thing, it may be June, but the movie of the Summer is already here as far as i'm concerned!

goddamn it was good, right?! i'm going to see it again this afternoon. what a thrill ride! :D it was pretty brilliant. sure it has some slow parts in the movie (literally the only reason it was 9/10 not 10/10), but what a fucking masterpiece. visually stunning, great music, lovable/hatable characters. this had it all.

Don't be afraid of going, my fellow shy-gamers. I'm pretty shy myself, so i went alone aaha :p. But i had a blast. everyone in the theater did. people were cheering FOR THE HORDE and FOR THE ALLIANCE. there was cosplaying, it was such an amazing environment and the movie was even better. can't wait to see it again once i'm off work today.

I like Warcraft and the movie was quite fun (although not great by any means, not even close to being in the same league with LOTR), but I realise it's just pure, concentrated fanservice and would look like an extremely cheesy and convoluted mess to anyone who doesn't know anything about Warcraft franchise.

The movie is pure shit. Absolute shit. It's sooooooo poorly done. But I liked it. Why? Because I like Warcraft and I knew about the characters. The orcs were fine, the rest was meh.
I enjoyed it (some parts), but it's not a good movie.

I was never a fan of the game but i agree with OP.
The film had its flaws.
They needed to hire someone who could actually write interesting characters, needed to cut out a lot of the human drama and screentime, needed to focus less on setting up a franchise and playing to the strengths of the core story. It was also obviously derivatve of LOTR but thats to be expected. The plot twist could be seen from a mile away. There were also a few plot holes/retarded decisions that irked at me as well.
It was actually very well directed though and the orc story was easily the most interesting and impressive part of the film by a mile. Action scenes were top notch and the story itself, while not anything special, wasnt overly complicated and lore heavy (which is an easy mistake to make when making a film based on an established franchise. The opening scene really blew me away and surprised the fuck out of me. It really painted a picture of how animalistic and tribal the orcs were. I guess that the movie had a soul to it. Thats what really made me enjoy it. Even if it was rough around the edges it had its heart in the right place.

It's a good movie...if you're already a Warcraft fan and know most of the lore, places and characters, but it's pretty meh for the average viewver.
