i did formerly have a film club (mostly attended by normie friends of mine), though, and THIEF was one of the most successful movies we watched. it's very easy to appreciate.

I hate to invoke the old Master And Commander meme, but this is a film so tied up in ideas of loyalty, camaraderie, sacrifice for the greater good and the value of a father figure that most women (and men, for that matter) who are products of the millennial 'me, now' generation probably wouldn't appreciate it.

I don't know. I feel like it's very much a guy's movie. There's a romantic subplot that plays out a little strangely--he arguably doesn't treat her very well, and someone might take it the wrong way. Still, a good movie.
