The Halloween remake is one of the worst remakes ever made because it represents a fundamental misunderstanding of the character of Michel Myers and why he works as a horror icon. You know what isn't scary, knowing that behind the mask all Myers is is a sad scared little boy with mommy issues. You know what is scary, a silent remorseless killing machine who even with a happy and normal upbringing has nothing but evil inside of him.

Michael Myers as an unstoppable force of supernatural evil is just some horror movie bullshit with no grounding in reality whatsoever. That's not scary at all. How can anyone be afraid of something that can't affect them in reality?
A dark room is scary. A noise under the bed is scary. Some super strong dude in a bad Star Trek mask is just a silly movie contrivance.
