These are not your favorite films, these are critical darlings. Nobody is going to say Birth of a Nation is their favorite film -- film students are forced to watch it to understand the medium's beginnings, but no way in hell does anybody find that elongated, racist dross to be compelling, let alone something you can admire so personally as to call it your "favorite".

Your entire list is like that, too. How pretentious can you be? Are you seriously pretending to enjoy the morose quagmire that was L'Avventura? Shoah? Shoah is a "favorite" of yours? Satan-fucking-tango -- is that a joke?

I'm willing to wager you haven't even seen most of these films, that you've recently discovered the Sight and Sound list or something equivalent and wanted some kind of validation for doing so. I want you to know that masquerading as you are is pathetic, and you are less intellectually capable than people who post nothing but the word BANE.

That's why the list and its format has no substance. It's compiled by rule of threes in I Heart the [decade] groupings, not anything that tries to approach cinema in terms of artistry and influence beyond arbitrarily limited numbers and dates.

it's the same as liking Justin Bieber and Ludwig van Beethoven at the same time, obviously one or another part is fake, so don't tell me about "taste"

Now, people ignore it, but that's a great list and make for some nice programs. Pity it's only seen as the big pasta with funny names.
And this is the very abridged version.

but i do like justin bieber and beethoven
i mean, i don't like everything bieb's put out, but some of it is catchy. and it doesn't compare to beethoven, but i like it nonetheless. it's the same with movies. saying movies are my favorite doesn't automatically mean they're objectively equal in terms of craft. it's simply about taste.

i'm being authentic here. i don't know what your issue is.
